In Shaka We Trust?

I think Ram fans are allowed to be POed after this one.

Jamie's right. The four guard thing has been killing us. If we were blowing out teams behind amazing shooting and just slipped up one night, I'd understand. But we're eeking by teams at home even that we should be blowing out.

The fundamentals just aren't there. We don't rebound and we don't play D. I think Ram fans are allowed to voice their frustration after these types of games.

Against a bad team and have not played well against a good team since Thanksgiving. Nothing to be concerned about though, I'm sure you're right.

We played well against UAB for 35 minutes.

There is no consistency to the team. We don't have a steadying force, and until one steps up or we bring one in, the inconsistency will continue.

Wonder if the radio crew spinned this a loss to a very good GSU team?

They were pretty good tonight.

Can anybody hear site a case where a winning coach has been fired halfway into his second season and then tell me how that worked out?

How do you continue to get owned on the glass and keep running out a 4 guard lineup? Defies all basic logic. At what point does someone say..."hmmm, ya know i just noticed we've been getting outrebounded almost every game lately. Hmm, lets see.....We start 4 guards. I wonder if it might be worth a shot going with a bigger lineup?"

Is this really possible this early in the season? Tonight was only the second CAA game. I'd like to know why no one is stepping up into the leadership role, just as most of us would... But to say the team has no heart and that Shaka has lost them? I don't buy it.

I am referring to his 1.5 year tenure. Not just 1/2 of a season. The product he puts on the floor is a joke. His players do not respond to him. If he is the coach making adjustments and is half as good as the homers on here make him, that crap tonight just shows he does not have a grip on this team and frankly never has.

I guess you're another one of the "27-9 isn't good enough" crowd.

I think Shaka is doing when he can with what he has. IMO Shaka has done more with less, than Grant did with 2 nba players.

Riiiiiight.

VCU's best fans! Seriously, you guys must get off on watching this team fail!

They do. Ram "fans" predicting .500 seasons aren't "fans" in my book.

Support the team. That might mean second-guessing, but bashing players and coaches like Whack-a-Mole reeks of fair-weather fandom.

So someone who analyzes what they saee and makes a fair prediction not a fan anymore I guess. Some of these people have been fans before you could even spell VCU, hardly fair weather fans. As much as you are a homer, some people see things differently than you. My father in law is a die hard redskins fan for 30+ years, before the season he said they would be sub .500 and finish last in the NFC East. He is still a huge fan and supports his team with season ticket purchases. Just because he sees a team and makes evaluations makes him no less of a fan that says they were going to win the Super bowl. This is a similar situation. There is a line to draw with being harshly critical towards coaches and players, but it is fair to evaluate the product they see on the floor. This team has issues. They need to be addressed. It is a fact.

Does Smart just pick ideas out of a hat? This whole 4 guard lineup is insane. We continue to get killed on the glass, game after game. Tonight the rebounding totals:

Rams 20
GSU 37

And of course, Shaka went with the 4 guard again...thinking that Burgess is a power post player and Joey is a shooting guard.

I fully expect him to start Brandenburg at center on Wednesday. Clueless.
well you gotta do what you gotta do when injuries happen. You want david hinton over bradford?

Earth to YoDude:

GSU has losses to Samford, Ga Southern, Hampton, and W. Mich. They are not a not a good basketball team. Heck, they beat VCU by more than they beat Chatanooga. This one hurts...

Robbie and Mike in particular have been pretty honest about what they have seen on the court and they have not been nice, right guys?

Riiiiight. Because Haley and Reddic do not exist right?
Brad is a three, he is not a four. He's doing a fine job considering he's playing out of position and getting banged on all game guarding bigger bodies.

The coach does not have guys in the best positions for each of them to succeed. That's on him...

The seniors on this team aside from skeen are really disappointing.

just because Skeen is the least bad option down low, that doesn't get him off the hook... seems like he costs us more points than he gets us

I just wish someone would step up and become a leader. We have 4 seniors and a junior. At least someone needs to go up to the other players and get in their face and wake them up. For whatever reason though, no one wants to be a leader. Until someone does, it's going to be a long rest of the season.
