Robbie and Mike in particular have been pretty honest about what they have seen on the court

Perfectly fine to criticize players and even joke on kids (like with Jay Gavin last year)...but i doubt you'll hear any second guessing of the coach.

This team has issues. They need to be addressed. It is a fact.

It's interesting you bring up the NFL, because I think it works the same way there as it does here.

Continuity is the key to success, and we have not had continuity. Last season we were built around Larry Sanders. As much as you all don't like to admit it, we were indeed built around Larry - even the games he decided to leave his work ethic in Richmond when we were on the road.

Now with him gone (and TJ and Kirill), we have a giant vacuum in the middle. We are trying to figure out who is going to fill it. We will continue to get beat on the boards until that gap is filled. Toby Veal - the guy who was supposed to come in and provide that presence - is hurt. And incidentally, we have been getting beaten up by teams with physical post players ever since. Coaching doesn't help injuries heal faster.

I think we will have a lot more adjustments to make until Veal gets healthy again. Hopefully that will be soon. We miss his inside presence.

Wonder if the radio crew spinned this a loss to a very good GSU team?

They were pretty good tonight.

Earth to YoDude:

GSU has losses to Samford, Ga Southern, Hampton, and W. Mich. They are not a not a good basketball team. Heck, they beat VCU by more than they beat Chatanooga. This one hurts...

If it hurts for more than 4 hours, consult a physician.

You might have noticed the I used the word "tonight" suggesting that they played well "tonight" as in when we were playing them. Of course it doesn't help that we played like poop and didn't punish them for their mistakes.

I guess you're another one of the " 5th place in a 12th place league and a bought post season championship isn't good enough" crowd.

Fixed it for you and yup

I'm not "fine" with finishing in 5th place either. But the truth of the matter is that firing our coach two games into the conference season after a 9-5 record and a significant amount of player turnover is not going to solve the problem.

I just wish someone would step up and become a leader. We have 4 seniors and a junior. At least someone needs to go up to the other players and get in their face and wake them up. For whatever reason though, no one wants to be a leader. Until someone does, it's going to be a long rest of the season.

Joey is the leader. The problem is he lost his confidence, mainly because his game is based on hustle. With an injury and no hustle, Joey is an average player at best. Next you have Ed and Brandon, both role players. Bradford just goes out and works, he is more of the lead my example type. IMO Skeen needs to take more of a leadership role, but doesn't.

Riiiiight. Because Haley and Reddic do not exist right?
Brad is a three, he is not a four. He's doing a fine job considering he's playing out of position and getting banged on all game guarding bigger bodies.

The coach does not have guys in the best positions for each of them to succeed. That's on him...
Haley and Reddic are both freshman. Are you expecting them to rock our world?

Skeen still looks a bit uncomfortable going up against other bigs. I have said before and will say again, Skeen is not a natural post player. He's playing out of position because of the injury to Veal.

Until tonight he's been doing a heck of a job filling in, but I just can't see him being effective as a 5 for the entire season.

this one is on the players .... they got schooled. Guards didnt defend and broke down the defense. Rozell 2-10 but I am sure it is smarts fault.
I agree the 3 guard, 2 forward deal isnt working. Theus while playing hard shot poorly.
BTW JMU lost there too. I am self imposing the 24 hr no post rule

Never said we should, just calling a spade a spade. What is harder to take after these losses is the spin put on the way we play. Its not fair to blame the players when I believe our coach is in over his head. I am not saying he cannot be good coach for us, but right now he is not.

Only one guy on here actually called for him to get fired and the thread got locked. I wish I had it in me to not come on here after a loss and not worry about what the "word magicians" say, but truth be told it sucks so bad right now I cannot help it.
