That our team pulls out wins with a great atmosphere, and ends up on the short end and sometimes very short end when the atmosphere is stale? Maybe this is the case for a lot of schools but maybe right on for us. All of our losses have been in rather stagnant environments. While our wins and "close: losses were in hyped atmospheres. Could this team be The Lakers? Could we need the big stage due to past years success's to play at the highest levels or find way to win? So many questions.....

I've noticed this too. Our guys seem to play well in "big" games but seem to take nights off sometimes. We need an emotional "brick", someone who can play consistently all the time.

I've thought about this in depth. And it makes complete sense. We've kind of always played like this. Look at a few of our loses this year: @ USF, @ UAB and @ GSU. USF and GSU were very sterile environments. Judging by the UAB feed the crowd was really hopping in Birmingham either. Against Tennessee the environment seemed to be stale too, but how can it when you're playing at MSG? UR was a different story, we just never showed up.

Regardless of whether it takes and exciting atmosphere for this team to get pumped up, they need to figure it out. They should get pumped up for every game against every team they play. This team is HURTING for some energy. I'm tired of how lacks they are. It's the job of the coaches and seniors to get this team in the right mindset for each and every game. It's about time we see that right mindset. We have talent on this basketball team, however we are far from being a complete basketball team at this point. We certainly aren't close to having gelled. When we do we will be scary. Until then we're just a mediocre basketball team.

I said this before, but if the seniors are not willing to step up we need Brad to. When mistakes are made we need someone on this basketball team to talk it out with that player. We need someone he will acknowledge the crowd to get them pumped. We need someone to be the floor general for this team. We need a leader.

Not sure I buy it. Our biggest turd of the year was laid at the Robins Center against our cross town rival. The environment for that game was pretty good, right? Environment, convenience and comfort certainly seems to have something to do with wins and losses, which would explain why most teams win more at home than on the road, but in my opinion I don't think it has any more bearing on this team than the average squad.

There are a lot of references to all the talent we have too - - I just don't see that we have any more than the other top 5 or so teams in the CAA.

yeah, i'm not buying this theory either.

if this team somehow thinks they need a "big stage" to perform well, they really do need to be knocked down a peg or two. an experienced team such as vcu should be able to get hyped up for a game in a prison yard.

I would love to hear some serious "D-FENSE" chants a ton tonight.

This, real ballers don't need some special atmosphere to play their game. Either you have it in you or you don't. But if we did need some crazy atmosphere to play our game this team would be pretty soft.

I can get on board with this...there's always lots of noise for the flashy dunk or the 3 ptr, but I would like to hear some fan support for the good defensive possession or the big rebound!
