We probably got Johns and Jackson because Martelli’s dad was at Michigan.Was thinking the same thing, if he does not get what he wants at BYU for any reason, he may still head our way. That's one reason recruiting high school players is still important. We got Johns and Jackson at least partially because Rhoades and company had recruited them in high school and already had good relationships with them.
But connections and relationships still matter. And Odom’s relationships in college basketball and in European basketball are key.
