Wasn't sure where to put this, so I'll put it here. Admins feel free to move it.

Just a weekly update on where our opponents (and in the case of RPI, we) stand on the polls/rankings.

AP:
#48(T) William & Mary, 3 votes
#51(T) Richmond, 2 votes
#53(T) Rhode Island, 1 vote

Coaches:
#40 William & Mary, 11 votes
#49 Richmond, 2 votes
#50(T) Old Dominion, 1 vote

RPI:
#14 William & Mary
#18 VCU
#22 Richmond
#24 Rhode Island
#42 Hofstra
#56 Old Dominion
#89 Western Michigan
#102 Nevada
#114 Oklahoma
#131 East Carolina
#138 George Mason
#140 UNC Wilmington
#147 Drexel
#184 Northeastern
#199 Georgia State
#246 Bethune Cookman
#248 Tulane
#257 Delaware
#266 James Madison
#291 Towson
#303 Hampton

Also interesting that the realtimerpi.com site has us as an 11 seed playing the Tar Heels of UNC in Miami, that would be kinda fun! However it had us as a 1 bid league, and had Georgetown as a #1 seed. Seems strange they would have us in over RPI #14 W&M.

Not really. Look at their projections for the rest of the year. They project W&M to finish the CAA 12-6, while they project us to finish 15-3.

Ah, good call. I am used to the bracketology that just picks the highest team as the auto and doesn't look any further into it. If we make the NCAA's I wouldn't mind a trip to Miami in March 8-)

we arent ranked so who cares

Re: Dec. 21 - AP/ESPN/RPI - Polls/Rankings

I'm really surprised we're not getting votes. If William and Mary is, why the heck arent we? Ok, they beat Wake, we beat OU. They beat UR, so did we. Knocking off the #17 team in the country, a 1 loss Rhode Island team, UR, and Nevada should get us at least a vote or two. Granted, we havent played the might Vasser, but...

Judging by the votes, it would appear that the Western Michigan loss was more significant to those who vote than any of our wins (which I wholeheartedly disagree with).

ODU & UR's wins got national attention. our win over OU did not. many of these people voting don't really do any more research other than watching sportscenter.

Our win over Oklahoma may very well be one of our least impressive wins by the end of the season.

I don't know, I just don't see them dipping lower than Hampton. Then again, you did say ONE OF... so yeah, I will agree to that.

I think this is the biggest reason. We need to schedule our big games after the college football regular season if we want any press which leads to votes. Unless we are going to get ranked I am not really worried about a couple of votes though. Also these thinks are kind of a what have you done for me lately deal. ODU and UR just knocked off ranked teams so they get a few votes now, but as soon as they lose all of those votes will be gone no matter who they lose to.

UTEP made a ton of ridiculous shots in that game. Yes, OU could have played better D, but the Miners were hitting from everywhere. Caracter looks good in spite of all the rust.

That'd be great in an ideal world, but we cant always get a BCS team to play us in late December. Typically, they're always going to schedule us in the first few weeks of their season. BCS schools want to go into conference play coming off a few cupcakes, which we most certainly are not.

But ideally, I agree with you. It killed me to see the lack of coverage our win against the #17 team in the nation received...esp in contrast to what the Ticks and ODU just received from their wins.

Oh yeah, I think we should take whatever we can get as far as BCS or ranked opponents go, but when they happen to fall in December the games are going to get a little more press. I thought UR and ODU did a great job of scheduling top opponents right before the break. It is kind of hard to believe that they got those games. Kudos to Georgetown and Florida for having some stones and scheduling them in the first place.
