I saw Jay Gavin playing pickup at the Cary Street Gym yesterday. Didn't have a chance to talk to him, but it looks like he's still in town. Anyone have any updates on his plans for next season?

Well, he's finishing the semester before he leaves, which explains why he's still around. All I've heard is that he's leaving (or at least wants to). Where or when, I don't know.

Saw him at a popular eatery last week, eating alone. Not sure if he looks like it all the time, but he just looks like he is totally dejected and sad almost. Losing your mom is tough, especially at that age. I hope the best for him. But maybe getting out of Richmond will be a good thing for him. Hopefully closer to home.

What time was he there? I go usually 4 days a week and play some pick up games. Don't go at night though, too competetive for me (basketball is not my sport).

Jay is gonna rip it up wherever he goes. Book it.

:o Is this de ja vue.....seems I've heard this before!   I kid, I kid, I'm sure Jay will do well at his next stop.

From afar and prior to his eligibilty this year I have been a big fan of his game and potential upside. I don't know Jay at all. I do trust our coaches and will not second guess, but....

MIGHT there be any chance of reconcilation? [We're not talking mid-East peace talks here for crying-out-loud]. I'm not saying that should or needs to happen, just wondering if anyone has more insight?

After watching from afar Joey's saga over the past 12 months, and then seeing him return and aboslutely dominate at GMU, one can only hope such similar redemption for Jay's future--whatever his future. I realize all circumstances are different. My point is I wish Jay nothing but the best.

***Legitimate Update On Jay Gavin***

So I balled with Jay Gavin today at Cary St. Gym, and oh my goodness he is quick. I always thought he looked a little slow on the court during games but after playing with him he is not slow at all. He had a sick cross over and was lights out from the 3. My team actaully beat his but he carried his team. He also had this amazing spin move in transition that I was like wow.

I did talk to him after the game for a little bit. He is heading to a DII school near home in the CIAA. He said he wanted to be back home so he could play for his family and friends. He has talked to the coaches and is 99% sure that's where he is headed. You researches can prally tell us which school that is. He mentioned the school but I couldn't really understand the name.

I did wish him well and told him I enjoyed watching him play for vcu. I'm still a little down we are losing Jay cause he seems like a real nice guy. He also ran into my knee during the game and hurt his leg a little...oops sorry jay! :( :(

If true, that would mean that he would be back in Richmond at some point to play VUU. That would certainly be interesting to watch.
