Start of the 2nd quarter. Maynor just entered the game...no stats

Fans get half priced tix and food for the next preseason game if Maynor has an assist this quarter.

Maynor with 7 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal at the half in 11:42 of playing time. He's leading the team in assists and is tied for the lead in scoring. 8-)

He just needs to get his shooting percentages up though. 2-6 so far.

Thanks for the update. I think Eric is becoming a lock at the #2 PG spot for the Jazz. I'm looking forward to him having a great season with the Jazz. I'm afraid that I will not be able to pull for him in 4 regular season games though. Those will be the ones where he will play against the greatest NBA franchise of all time in the L.A. Lakers. Big Kobe fan, although I am looking forward to Eric getting to go up against Kobe, should be fun to watch. Will be ordering the NBA broadband package again this year where you can watch all the games online. It is a good deal, it was $99 for the entire season last year, I am not sure how much it is this year.

LOOK AT OUR BOY!

Maynor has hit 2 threes now! 4-9 from the field, 2-3 from 3 point range.

13 points, 5 assists, 2 steals and a board in 20 minutes so far. Looks like he's closing out the game. Ronnie Price started at the 2 guard alongside Deron Williams. It looks like E is gonna have a good number of minutes at backup point now. 8-)

Why am I not surprised? As I said on another thread, I have no doubts that he'll be a starter for somebody in the not too distant future. The guy has "it," and point guards with the right stuff are hard to come by.

Very happy to see his long-range game improving, 4 fouls though :( still, not a bad outing for EM3

Jazz win 99-96 and Eric was second leading scorer and assist man with 14 points and 5 assists to go along with 2 boards and 2 steals. Not bad at all!

Great game for Maynor from the looks of the box score. Too bad we couldn't see it online

I hate to be a negative nancy but the stat that really stood out to me was the +/- of -16 and 4 fouls.....I didnt see any of the game but that would indicate EM3 needs to step it up on the defensive end

NBA Recap:

Okur, Maynor lead Jazz over Trail Blazers
Posted Oct 16 2009 12:10AM

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) With a slight frame and a jump shot that still needs some work, Utah Jazz rookie guard Eric Maynor isn't likely to strike fear into his NBA opponents just yet.

But the first-round draft pick from Virginia Commonwealth is making progress. He had 14 points and five assists to help the Jazz beat the Portland Trail Blazers 99-96 in a preseason game Thursday night.

"He doesn't look like he's strong enough to hold down his breakfast,'' Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said of Maynor. "He's got a little more toughness than what he looks at times. He looks to get people the basketball and shot the ball pretty well tonight. He's coming along fine.''

Maynor scored seven points while playing most of the fourth quarter.

"I'm just trying to provide whatever the team needs me to provide every time I go in there,'' Maynor said. "You learn something new every day just because I'm new at it. You learn something almost every possession. Everything is new to me.''

Game Highlights here. Maynor with an assist and hits a 3 at the 2:00 minute mark of the video. The announcer states that the Jazz have "a nice looking rookie".

EM admits its a steep learning curve moving up to the next level.

"He's coming along pretty well" sounds like a SERIOUS compliment coming from Sloan this early on for a rookie.

Just checked on nba.com and the cost is currently 134.95 for the entire season of games on broadband. Went up a bit on price from last year, however not a bad price to pay for the entire season if you want to check out Eric in action throughout the whole season. Also, if you have an interest in another team you can watch those games as well. On broadband, it puts a blackout on the games that are being carried by any major television network. Another one the features is that it archives games, so you can watch the replay at your leisure if you are not able to watch at the time of the live broadband broadcast.
