Jernard Jarreau - 6'10 PF (visit)

Re: Jernard Garreau - 6'10 PF (visit)

It's actually Jarreau, and yes he was the recruit who visited.

Hopefully stomping out Tulane this season will make it easier for him to decide.

I wonder if Rashad Smith to Tulsa will affect his decision in our favor. I'd like to think we can compete with the likes of UT Chatanooga, Louisiana, et al.......but

1)It's still early and there's time for him to blow up for the Big schools

2)VCU is kind of a hike from Louisiana....but maybe we're a fit that he'll dig

so is cali...ie dj haley

Washington out of the PAC-10 looks like our most stiff competition right now...so it looks like distance is not a factor for him. One of their assistants is from the New Orleans area so they have a connection to him there. I have to think we stack up well against the other schools on his list.

–Jernard Jarreau, 6-8 rising senior combo forward, McDonogh 35 (LA): A skilled and slender sleeper, Jarreau has developed a lot since I first saw him as a freshman in New Orleans, developing into an interesting inside-outside player with a terrific handle for his size, speed in transition, great passing skills, accuracy on his J out to 15 feet, good post moves, an active force on the boards, solid shot-blocking ability, excellent length, nice athleticism and a willingness to bang, despite his lack of bulk.

In Jarreau, you've got one of the skinniest big men (around 6-foot-9 and maybe 180 pounds soaking wet) in the class of 2011 and a guy that can face up to shoot, runs the floor and is a long term "upside" guy.

JERNARD JARREAU - 6'10 - NEW ORLEANS ELITE
Long wiry skilled face up four man with a soft touch. Can hit the mid range if left open and has solid defensive length and instincts that extend to the perimeter. Skills, strength, and ability to attack the rim and finish with consistency all need to improve to take the next step as a prospect. Upside and ceiling are his calling card right now.

maybe we can get him on the dj haley bulk up program :D

Compared to other schools, VCU's got a first class cafeteria, which is good since he'll get plenty of encouragement to spend time there.

he got bigger with each article

Bernard (SuperNard) Harris was 6'10" and weighted about 175 early in his career circa 1970. And he never gained too much more than that.

IF JJ becomes a Ram and folks compare him to B. Harris once he's on the court then pound-for-pound JJ would be a force. If this group of coaches say a recruit [via an offical offer/visit ] has the talent and character to be a Ram, then count me in.

JJ take the coaches up on their word. This is a good group of people at the right school at the right time.

Jarreau is skinny as heck but talked to a contact of mine down south that said he has a 7'3 wingspan. Not quite Larry Sanders status, but still ridiculous to be sure.
