The whole article is the typical 'we need to overhaul our roster after a disappointing sweep in the playoffs.' It's nice to see that at least this sports writer sees Maynor as being a must-have for them. FWIW, Atlanta picks at 19 this year, and I doubt Maynor slips that far. Although it means absolutely nothing as far as what will actually happen, nbadraft.net has him going 13th overall to the Indiana Pacers. Chad Ford of ESPN has him going in the lottery as well. Apparently Maynor impressed in the Houston workouts and is hearing that he could go from anywhere as high as 8 (the Knicks like him but apparently have guaranteed Stephen Curry that they will pick him up with their pick if he is available) to 15 from NBA officials.
Much has to happen. The Hawks need to re-sign Mike Bibby, work a sign-and-trade with Marvin Williams and draft a guard, preferably Eric Maynor of VCU, in Round 1. But for this team to climb from pretty good to really good, something more must be done.
The Hawks must wean themselves from their reliance on Joe Johnson.
