I was walking around the Seigel Center during halftime of the Northeastern game and came across a plague honoring Kendrick Warren. His stats were unbelievable, he must have been incredible to see in person.

Was he drafted? It appears he wasn't? Why not? His senior year he was nominated best player in college basketball....

Thanks!

BUMP! There must be some old timers on here that can explain how a guy with his stat line and ability went undrafted???

That article explains his issues pretty well.....FUN to watch and brought a ton of excitement. However, Coach Smith and staff either didn't do a great job teaching Kendrick or Kendrick himself didn't really kill himself to improve his game. Or maybe both
He was invited to the Lakers camp and rumor had it he was close to making the team...but it never happened. His running mate Sherron Mills DID get drafted in the 2nd round by Minnesota in 1993.

MUCH less flashy than Warren, but also never played in the NBS. Both had success overseas

I was talking to a friend who gets geeked up when Bri dunks and then we talked about Kendrick. Kendrick sought out guys to dunk on. He was a highlight film and I have every one of his recorded dunks on a VHS tape.

As far as the NBA goes....his jumper was not solid, he was a poor free throw shooter and because of his size I do not think those negatives translated. In college though he was dominate as a wing and he could hold his own on the boards. He loved to catch the ball on the run and take 3 or 4 dribbles and attack the rim. Very Very exciting player.

Guy seems like a high flyer. Would be equivalent if VCU was able to sign Devin Robinson. Moot point since Larrier's on board. Man, that schedule looked stacked. A lot of good teams on there, many of which came to the Coliseum to play. Glad VCU made the move to the A-10 and I can see similar caliber opponents to the Metro days.

That schedule was stacked from the UR game on......it was a rough.
Unless you saw Kendrick it is hard to describe but he loved to posterize players.

As someone who was lucky enough to see Kendrick play, let me tell you, he was the real deal. The guy could fly.
I will never forget one particular play where he was 1 on 1 driving up the court and he put a move on the defender that was so sick the guy literally just sat down on the floor while he did one of his high flying tomahawk dunks. The coliseum just went nuts. heck, anytime he got the ball you just knew something great was about to happen.
By far my favorite Ram to date.

Here is a taste of what it was like to watch him play.

All of the comments above re Kendrick, yesss. First met him at a pre-season banquet in his freshman year...a very nice, reserved, and "nervous" young man. At the same table with us, Curtis Hall, former dean of school of business, (great guy, now getting "up there", like me,) and Curtis was great at conversing, leading discussion, with the nervous young man...and all of us. What I remember so much about KW in games, in addition to above comments, was his tapping out to himself in rebounding situations. Way above the others, a flick of the hand, and then catching ball 4--8 feet away! I'm sure others recall that!

those highlights are awesome! god I wish we had a high flyer like him to watch. perhaps larrier next year?

aslo can we get some of those uniforms back in rotation? so hot

My friend that went to the game with me yesterday actually said....I wish we had a high flying wing like Kendrick on this team. I said....they will have 3 coming in next year. Hopefully Larrier will have Kendrick's dunk on you mentality.

Love that music. It'd be great to see Larrier fit that bill because that's the last type of player that Shaka needs to complete the havoc brand and to truly compete and win regularly against the elite programs.

Kendrick was a special player. He wasn't just a wing who could dunk. He had an extremely quick first step that just allowed him to both get in the air before anyone else and then explode to the basket.

I'm not familiar with Larrier's game, but what KW had was a special gift. I am sure Larrier is gifted in his own way, but comparisons to KW will be unfair if TL isn't similarly gifted.

Kendrick was one of the most explosive players I've ever seen. He be flying to the basket dunking the ball with guys draped all over him.
