Keyshawn Mitchell commits to VCU!

I feel like this means Luke is gone, but I'm not sure I mind the tradeoff. Luke was an elite shot blocker but not a great rebounder. Mitchell is an elite rebounder (he had 7 double-doubles and 10 double-digit rebound games) who can score and is even a somewhat serviceable 3-point shooter. He also has a fairly good proportion of offensive rebounds. If Martelli is bringing an up-tempo offense here, we need scoring opportunities and I think Mitchell will give us plenty.

I think there would be room on the roster for both but I assume that Coach Martelli already knows that Luke is gone. If any of the players in the portal are thinking about returning the coaching staff probably knows which ones by now. They might not even want some of them. Not because they can't play but they have to be worth the asking price. It is not as simple as it used to be when the only question was can this person play a meaningful role on the team.
