don't know if anyone saw but the mystics cut 3 players two weeks ago and krystal vaughn was one of the players cut...she hardly played at all last year...they have a ton of players on their roster and changed coaches during the off season...maybe she will hook up w/minnesota and get to play with Q again ! I know this is a men's hoops board but i did not see this posted anywhere on the ot board so thought i would go ahead since it is vcu basketball related.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully she picks up with another team somewhere!

Am I the only who thinks ramannouncer1 might be Hunter?

For Krystal's sake, I hope she gets a good paying job in the private sector.

I read an article the other day about Q, saying she may not even make the team, and she was the #9 draft pick!

Anyone know what the max salary is for a rookie drafted at the #9 spot in the WNBA draft?

$45,000.

Thankfully Q will have a masters in computer science. So one she's had enough of the game, she can go and make some real money! Gotta do what you love for as long as you can though.

I think she is fully capable of getting another spot on a pro team.

And, I hope that is Hunter!! That would make my day!

Krystal will be okay. I've got to say I'd rather get paid $30k to play basketball than get $100k to sit at a desk.

And I'm thinking announcer is Robby.

For sure!

Also, it would equal make my day if that was Robby! I am a big fan of both of them!

The WNBA changed the number of players they carry on their roster for a season. Last year it was 13 players, it is now 11. That cut 2 players from making the team each season. It will be tougher to make any team now. Hopefully Krystal will be given a chance by someone else, at least she can always say she was a professional WNBA player for the rest of her life. Teams will no longer carry players on their squads to see if they can develop or learn a new position, not enough spots to do it.

Krystal also played overseas last year, so even if the WNBA doesn't work out immediately, she's still going to have options.

Exactly. With the limited number of months that the WNBA season has, most players actually play in Europe for the remainder of the year. They actually make a decent salary doing both if they 'work' year-round. Not a bad way to make a living. I have no doubt that Q will also be playing overseas in the offseason once the WNBA season is over.

I thought you were talking about Q at first. I was like... why would they cut her after they just drafted her at number 9.

Sorry to hear about Krystal. I always enjoyed seeing her play. I am sure she has a backup plan. She is a smart player.
