Larry Sanders in NBA

To answer the question. You shouldn't go to the NBA if you average 13.8 ppg and 8.4 rpg for a mid-major school in a mid-major conference as a jr. I know it's about potential, but he's just not going to be ready after this year IMO. Needs 15 more pounds and another year of development and he'll stand a much greater chance in the NBA. I think he needs to be around 19 ppg and 13 rpg before he checks into the NBA.

Not gonna happen. Sorry.

Well we already know you can be a D!!! sometimes Sometimes. It comes in handy when you have to travel over to the UR boards because they deserve every bit of it.

We all made our first post at some point. I just don't like to see us eat our own right away before they have a chance to get to know the place and the people.

i personally do not think LS1 is ready for the NBA, and I want him back at VCU for when we play Alabama so Grant and see what he left behind

That won't happen either way, we don't play them until the year after next. Grant's only recruits that will still be around will be Bradford and T.

Agreed, but I would take it one step further: I'm not sure you should bolt with above numbers even if on a national championship team.

Larry is a great talent, and he needs to physically and mentally continue on his developmental path.

Larry, work hard and enjoy this year AND next...in between, continue working. Then continue to do the same in the NBA [and manage your time and money wisely]. Keep God close and enjoy the ride. You will then make this Ram Fan proud!

VCU is scheduled to play at Alabama in 2011. that would make it next year since it's the 2010 season right now. LS1 would still be here

An OOC 2011 game would take place during the 2011-12 season.

I'm pretty sure his buddy maynor is telling him to stay in school...the extra year will do him a lot of good. the only thing working against us is the darn officiating...every single game larry gets 2 fouls called in the first half. I know he is tired of all the ticky tack fouls and not getting a chance to play 35 minutes a game...mediorce officiating is the worst thing about college hoops...it is taking so much away from the game...larry may just be fed up with the officiating and say screw it, i'm done...who could blame him ??

I just stumbled across this prediction on a site called hoopshype.com. I was trying to get a feel for what Larry might be in line to get paid his rookie year if he left as a junior. How could any college student turn down $1.4 million? I would love for him to stay four years but that's a whole lot of money to leave on the table to return for your senior year to polish your skills.

15. Sacramento Kings
Larry Sanders 6-9 PF Virginia Commonwealth / Junior
Athletic power forward with a freakishly long wingspan. Incredible presence defensively, changes everything around the rim with his terrific timing. Runs the floor great, plays extremely hard and gives his team lots of energy. Limited offensive player who will likely never be more than a role-player at best on this end of the floor. Late bloomer with major upside. Must fill out his frame.
Comparison: Theo Ratliff Stats: 11.3 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.7 bpg
Rookie season salary*: $1,443,300 Ranking: 7th Power Forward / 4th Junior

Larry is getting better about the fouls. Last year he was still struggling with it during CAA play and seemed to have a handle on it by the end of the season. It is something he just has to stay focused on. His last 4 games he has only had 3 fouls in each and has four double doubles in a row. It pays off for him when he can stay on the floor.

I think Ratliff is a very good NBA comparison-right now- if his offense were never to evolve past where it stands today. And that said, Ratliff had a very nice, lengthy NBA career as a key cog on some good teams. no shame in that at all.

However, should Larry's offense continue to develop as it has year by year over each of the last three, he's certainly got a chance to project as something much greater than a Ratliff type in the Association.
