Did anyone catch Robby's interview with Larry after the game? He gave us a glimmer of hope. When asked about Akron, Larry responded "We'll have played them all 4 years that I'm here. We've already played them twice, we have them this year again, and we're going there again next year."

Probably reading into that statement way too much, but he didn't even hesitate when making the 4 years comment.

A guy can dream, right?

I said the same thing to my wife when watching the post game interview when he was talking about that. He said they might as well be in our conference. They come here this year and we go there next year. I too can dream

When they dangle the money in from of him, I am afraid he will be gone..... Who will replace him at VCU?

He's not going pro early. He'll be back next year. He's just too raw and needs another year. That's great he can go for 31 against Hofstra and 29 against Drexel, but can he do it against Chris Bosh, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, etc? I think his size is favorable in college and plays to his benefit, but it won't be so favorable at the next level. He has tons of potential, but he really needs to play out his eligibility and hit the weight room hard during the offseason.

If his VCU education is working, I'm hoping he understands another year at VCU = more money and a better rookie season when he does go big time.

Like I said in the other thread the Bracketbuster return games arent next year but the year after. If he said 4 years cool but he wont be playing Akron next year if he stays.

What I actually heard is the have the OPTION to play it either of the next two years. But that is not what this thread is about. He sounded to me like he is staying. Don't even want to think how good we would be next year if he does.

We played Akron the year after. We played Nevada this year and then played them at the Stu this year. We played Bradley last year after playing them two years ago so VCU seems to like playing the next year consistently.

Thats because this is the first year with the option to delay the return game.

If I'm Akron, I push to have the game returned in 2011-2012, after we lose the monster class of 2011.

If Im VCU I do the same thing..with a team that good I'd like to play somebody better than Akron

Lifer, I believe that this is the first year of the new rule where you can play the return game within 2 years. It had previously been automatic that the return game take place the following year, that wasn't something that was done by VCU's choosing.

But then again Shaka has a great class coming in next year to go along with our current guys that will be here In 2011-12

Sophs: Rob and Reco
Juniors: Darius, Troy and Grayson
Seniors: Brad, Toby and Big T

Akron can't avoid the inevitable beat down.

Which means absolutely NOTHING until those guys get some good floor time in the black and gold. Remember, the guy everyone was most hyped about having coming into this season isn't even on the team anymore!
