I paid the $4.95 fee, the stream was terrible, then my laptop (I was away from home) crashes, so I didn't see or even hear the score until I get home at 11. Sounds like the team had a worse night than me, except for Brad.
There was not much talk on the board about Larry last night, but I can see he shot no 3s, but was again only 6-16 from the floor? What's really hard to believe is that he played what 32 mins and had only 3 def rebounds? What was the story there? Was there a noticable change in is attitude, positioning, aggressiveness, anything?
Is there a replay available sometime?

I also registered and saw the game. It looks like they archive their games and let you view them on their site. Being that you paid for one game access hopefully they would let you go back and watch that game. Check it out ,

I'm wondering whats up with him getting his shots blocked all of a sudden

I've been wonder the same thing. Couple questions: Who was the big-man coach last year? Who is it this year?

Too much of the not getting position deep enough in the post, combined with him making his move resulting in ending up 2-3 feet farther AWAY from the basket than he was when he caught the pass. He needs to be making his moves TOWARDS the bucket and go up STRONG!

Larry is having a tough time. Enough said.

You guys make it out like he's become Sam Harris overnight.

His last 4 games:
23, 16, 12, 15 points respectively
9, 2, 9, 9 rebounds respectively
4, 5, 4, 4 blocks respectively

Aside from the 2 rebound game, none of those numbers are as drastically off what you would expect as many on these boards make it out to be.

If anything, perhaps the expectations need to be tempered a bit. He's improved each and every year, and for a guy who didnt pick up a basketball until he was 14...I think he's not as far removed from where he can reasonably be expected to be as some seem to think. Does he have bad days? Sure. If he consistent like a Maynor was? Def not.

But let's not make it like we'd be undefeated if we had someone else at center. Larry's learning (and perhaps also learning that he needs another collegiate year of experience as well), and will be just fine.

The 2 rebounds were in the UNCW game when he didn't really get a whole lot of time!

Exactly.

Here are the numbers of a guy who, if you read these boards, you'd think was so is "awful" right now and "can't do anything right".

Over the last 4 games:

Shooting 45% overall (26/58 from the field)
Shooting 75% from the line (12/16)
Shooting 33% from behind the arc (2/6)

His scoring average is up, as he's been averaging 16.5ppg over this span.

His block are up, as he's been averaging 4.25 bpg over this span

And his rebounds are respectable at 7.25 per game, esp factoring in less mins vs UNCW.

Has he made some mistakes, yes? Taken some ill advised shots, yes? But has he been good more often than he's been bad? Of course. Cut the kid some slack. Furthermore, he's only going to make mistakes as long as he's allowed to. The longer the leash, the more more mistakes can be expected.

People just want him to play smarter, nothing wrong with that. Games come down to a possession here or a possession there. Nobody wants the possession that the game comes down to to be a Larry Sanders three point attempt.

Especially when recently it's been more than just 1, 2 or 3 dumb shots....I'd say every time he gets pushed off the block and settles for that fade away from 8-10 feet it's a poor shot too!

At least he's back in the paint. Give him a break, he'll get back to the Larry we know soon enough.

Last two games:

NU

Points in the paint - VCU 28-20 (22-10 in the second half)
Rebounds - VCU 38-32
3 point shooting - VCU 6-21; NU 5-9
Larry - 12 pts.; 9 rebounds; 4 blocks

Drexel

Points in the paint - VCU 34-28
Rebounds - VCU 35-31
3 point shooting - VCU 4-16; DU 10-17
Larry - 15 points; 9 rebounds; 4 blocks

Yeah, Larry's the problem; not our 10 of 37 shooting from behind the arc or the opposition's 15 of 26 shooting from there.

As I have said on several occasions - you live by the three you die by the three. Bang said of that...where? when?.....Well you have just seen two games in a row. At least we have cut down on the number of attempts per game from the previous high of 29! But when you specialize in 3 point shots and they don't fall, you may not have practiced enough on mid-range inside the arc games.....so those don't fall either.

Could it be that our practices consist of raging havoc and then all quick down the court transition points? Do we work real hard on our half court offense?

If we are still practicing with a 14 second shot clock I would say yes and no
