I'm sure most of us saw the video by now....pretty rough scene and the calls for his head are coming fast and furious.
What we know:
Byron Hout of BSU smacked Blount on the shoulder and talked some trash...As Hout turned to face his coach who was attempting to move him...I presume...away from Blount. Blout knocked him out like Glass Joe. Blount was restrained by teamates (one of which he struck in the neck) and was escorted off the field by security...only to attempt to go into the stands at the angry BSU fans.

so

What punishment does the kid deserve??

1) 1 Game Suspension
2) 2-5 Game Suspension
3) Kicked off team for the season
4) #3 with Criminal Charges
5) GFY :D

Kick him off the team and send his ass to court.

Not only did he punch a player square in the jaw, he tried to fight the police who were restraining him. He was already suspended from the team once in the off season. This kid has no place on the field.

I tend to agree with this. The way they played last night that will not be Oregon's only loss of the season, and you can't act like that every time you lose. It was a solid punch, but he didn't show me much by hitting a guy when he still had his helment on. That really doesn't take a lot of guts. He doesn't need to get locked up over this (IMO) but he should go before a judge and maybe spend a weekend or two in Boise picking up trash around the stadium.

You're acting like the other guy on BSU was innocent  He was asking for it and got what he deserved. That being said, I think a suspension(2-3games) will even up the punishment.

I mean, if I ran 8 times for -5 yards I'd be pissed too.

LOL the BSU guy said "Now who got their ass whipped" apparently he did

But one that guy is crazy as poop
two never talk trash to somebody wearing a helmet when you don't have one on
three clean hit even if he was wrong

i also agree that the bsu kid was asking for it. your play on the field did all the talking, guy. no need to trash talk a pissed off opponent face to face after the game. shake his hand and move on.

that said, what a dumbass thug this blount kid is. how stupid can you possibly get? this guy is (was) one helluva running back. sure, he had a bad game last night, but he was expected to be a star this season, and likely get drafted to the nfl. i guess the cfl is in his future now. good going, numbnuts.

i'd say a suspension for the rest of the season was fitting.

Byron Hout got what he deserved too!

FWIW, it was in response to a statement Blount made before the game where he said that he owed BSU an ass whoopin.

I saw this and was so excited. I'm so glad I stayed up and watched it. I love it when other school's athletes make fools of themselves

Article in SI concerning Blount's punch. Apparently Kermit Washington gave him some advice.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/w ... index.html

For those who never saw this incident, it was a nasty punch that flattened Rudy Tomjanovich with serious injury. Basically knocked him out and broke every bone in his face. Kermit never played another game in the NBA and will always be remembered for that punch.

He will still get drafted just later

I was thinking the same thing, Swimmer....Hout being less "crushed" still makes Kermit Washington the sports sucker punch king.

Anyone who thinks Blount's suspension is too long needs to remember Nike's major $$$ contributions to the Ducks...I'm sure they don't want to look like they support Blount's idiocy.

I also agree with Merc on the NFL draft....regardless of Blount's actions...he's still a talented football player who will get drafted by some NFL team (I'll guess Rounds 4-6)
