"All Ram fans should consider attending the first ever Black & Gold Ball at the Siegel Center from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15th for the following reasons:

It will be the best party in Richmond that night and will become a signature annual event.
You can dance to the sounds of BS&M.
There will be a Texas Hold 'em tournament in the Founders Room with major prizes to the winner.
You will be in the company of the friendliest fans anywhere.
There will be a casino area on the floor of the Siegel Center.
There will be a cigar and Scotch/Single Barrel Bourbon tasting tent just outside the SC on the East End of the building.
There will be unlimited adult beverages included in the price of admission.
You will be supporting your beloved VCU Rams basketball team.

If anyone has the ear of the AD, you might suggest they make information on the Black & Gold Ball easier to find. I just spent a good 20 minutes searching the Athletics page, the Basketball page, and even tried the search function from the Home page and found only a video that refused to load. Your link doesn't work. Not going to be full if only Ramnation readers know about it.

I got an email about it a month ago

If ever in doubt, call the athletic office. They will always take your phone call and respond immediately. No need to waste time searching for information. I received a personal, written invite, a couple of emails, and a phone call asking about my attending. If you truly want VCU to be one of the "big boys," these kind of events are essential and the must be supported by our fans.

Sorry about the bad link, it came from a ticket sign up flyer put out by the AD. I wil let Alex know about the problem today. Thanks rollins77 for the correct link.

Bottom line, everybody on these boards who want us to go to the next level needs to attend this event and besides, it's gonna be a blast.

ADMINS, CAN WE STICKY THIS THREAD UNTIL THE EVENT?

Actually http//givenow.vcu.edu/blackandgoldball is not a link per se but if you copy and paste into your internet browser, it will get you to the right place.

HOW CAN WE GET THIS MESSAGE STICKIED SO IT STAYS IN FRONT UNTIL THE EVENT HAPPENS? ADMINS??

I guess my point was not clear. I got the earlier information as well. Everyone who reads Ramnation will know about the Ball. But it seems to me that this is something that can bring in new interest, and hence should be publicized with easy to find information for those who have not yet found their way here.

I appreciate your interest in the success of the first Black & Gold Ball. I know little about marketing; but I do know that you get your best response from people who already know something about your product. Hence, VCU has made several contacts (mail, email, phone calls, etc) with everyone who has had some contact with VCU's athletic program. They also have been busy making contacts with the friends in the business community who have a relationship with our athletics. This type of project is not well suited for "cold calling" nor for contacting persons who have had no prior interest in VCU other than a casual one. The nature of the activity nor the $75.00 admission charge will not attract these people. The VCU athletic office has done an excellent job at promoting this project. Now it rests in the hands of all of us who want to see VCU athletics continue on its path of excellent. Write your check or use your credit/debit card today. If you have friends who have attended other formal fundraisers, ask them to come. Better yet, ask them to join you. Let's make the Black & Gold Ball a financial success.

Wish it was on a weekend night, it is tough for those of us living 100 miles away to make it in the middle of a work week.

Wish it was on a weekend night,

Your wish has been granted

Be there
I think it is going to be worth the effort, money, or whatever is giving you pause
