News in the RTD that could have big implications for us and our favorite center. Quoting Tim Pearrell,

With 6-11 Larry Sanders at less than full speed because of a foot injury, Georgia State post players Xavier Hansbro, James Vincent and Trey Hampton hurt the Rams inside early in the first half.

Smart said Sanders hurt his right foot in the first half. He still played 26 minutes, finishing with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

"That's why it looked like he was playing at about 75 percent speed," Smart said. "When we get him back, we'll take some X-rays and look at everything. Hopefully, it's not something that will bother him moving forward. But it certainly affected him tonight."

Here's hoping this is nothing serious. I would rather Larry not play another game for us rather than have some serious injury. Link below

Let's keep our fingers crossed. I cannot imagine any post-season run without Larry.

On another note, I was threatened banishment from these boards for posting quotes out of the RTD "incorrectly". Hopefully you won't receive the same threats as I did.

Well, the good news is he was able to play on it after injuring it...so at least it was not so bad initially that he couldn't even come back. I think we'd miss him more defensively if he's out or limited...Skeen looks capable of filling the scoring gap inside... if there is one.

Quoting a small paragraph is acceptable, quoting an entire article is not. No comparison between what Victorious did and what you did. What he did was acceptable, what you did is against the law. It's fine, you probably just didn't know, but in the future just remember that as it has legal implications and can negatively impact VCURamNation.com from a legal standpoint.

get well Larry!

Victorius; it would probably be a good idea to edit your orig. post to include either a link, or a date/section/page citation ...

re: quoting & copyright ...since the Internet and web fora such as this are still relatively new in the grand scheme of copyrightable forms of expression, how the law gets interpreted and applied is not a completely settled area. However, some basic 'best practices' have been developed and generally adopted. While many of these best practices haven't actually been fully tested in court or on appeal, they are thought to provide pretty good guidance on how to stay on the right side of the law. When referring to a work such as a newspaper article, the practice of providing a hyperlink to the source (or a good citation if not an online source) and also quoting (and identifying as a quote) a few sentences, even up to 2 or 3 paragraphs is thought to be ok. However, one has to use some common sense. If the source article is itself only 3 paragraphs, one should scale down the quote proportionally (although at a certain point, it becomes questionable if the original source is copyrightable if it is too short, but that would be up to the court to decide, not an online poster).

for those that want to learn more, here's an article that covers a good bit of this stuff aimed at writters/producers/bloggers rather than law-talkers: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/07 ... -it-right/

I hope that my gut feeling is wrong and this injury turns out to be insignificant for Larry.

I wouldn't put much stock in the fact the he played with the injury for most of the game, so to think that it must not be that bad.

Hopefully, if anyone hears anything they'll post it here.

If the x-ray is negative then he should be able to play through it even if he is not 100%. If something is broken then we have some problems. TJ missed a lot of time last year with a foot injury. I am sure it won't take long for word to get out if there is any news on the situation.

There are people here that will share as soon as they hear something. For one, I haven't heard anything yet. xjohnx might have some news tomorrow.

Can someone please just drive down to Broad St., stick his foot in a microwave, and see what you see?

If he misses time I think we will still be in good shape (not great). KP, Saintil and Skeen are good, big bodies and we'd still have some scoring and rebounding punch. We might have to slow things down a little, but we'd still be competitive. Top 4 in the CAA is the goal now...we aren't likely to win the regular season with ODU, GMU, W&M, and NU all sitting there with only 1 loss after 7 conference games. We'd have to go on a big undefeated run and they'd all have to falter badly. So, as long as we could get into the top 4 and get Larry back for the tourney we'd have our shot.

I'm not ruling out winning the regular season. Not at all. We've got a ton of talent and can beat any Conference team anywhere. We just can't have let downs after big wins. That UNCW blow-out obviously caused a let-down, which is very common in all sports. Just can't let it happen again.

It's a tough road if we want to win the regular season, and we'll need help from teams above us dropping games. If I were a betting man I wouldn't bet on us being regular season champions, too much has to happen for that to take place. I do think we're a safe bet for a top 4 seed, which is all we can ask for going into Richmond. Then we have as good a shot as any to win the tourney. Realistically we have no shot at an at-large after dropping the Drexel and NU games anyway. NU's a good team, but their 2-7 start will have people disrespecting them. Drexel was just a bad loss no matter how you cut it. W&M was the game that got away that we really could have used (and very easily could have won).

We'll have to really turn it up a notch to get back to the top, I'm sure our guys are working as hard as they can on their end to get there.
