MAYNOR AT PHILLY TODAY

just saw this on SportsRise (Comcast- Philly). Announced him as 'two-time CAA player of the year, Eric Maynor'

he needs a good performance as he is slipping in mock drafts. In the hoopsworld consensus mock he went as low as 27th by 2 different writers. nbadraft.net which had him the highest even in the top 10 at one point mostly number 13 to the pacers now has him at 21.

Good thing those guys aren't actually the ones in charge..

hoopsworld has been anti maynor since day one...look at all their past articles within the last two weeks...all basically negative.

Realistically, I think 18-25 is about the right spot for Maynor. You can't deny he's a little underweight, underpowered and has limited leaping ability for a lottery pick. The measurements and workout numbers show it.

This was from Chad Ford's blurb about the practice session in NJ on Friday.

Friday, June 12: 11:15 a.m. session
Player Pos. Last
Eric Maynor PG VCU
Jimmy Baron G URI
Chase Budinger SG Arizona
Joe Ingles SF Australia
Jeff Teague PG Wake Forest
Paul Harris SG Syracuse

The Jeff Teague versus Eric Maynor matchup is a really good one.

Teague is also on the fence about staying in the draft, though right now it seems likely that he stays in. He was injured in the Minnesota workout, straining an MCL, but now he's been cleared to work out again.

UPDATE: The word inside the gym on Friday afternoon was that Maynor looked fantastic and that Budinger shot the lights out.

i love how when a mock has maynor moving up its golden news but when he is moving down they dont mean anything cause they arent the gms. i understand this audience is supposed to be biased for maynor but lets not be complete homers.

While there are no assurances, Eric Maynor has a reasonable chance to be VCU's highest drafted player ever.

The highest previous picks are:

Sherron Mills, No. 29, 1993, Minnesota (Mills was also VCU's last drafted player)

Calvin Duncan, No. 30, 1985, Cleveland

Jesse Dark, No. 32, 1974, Knicks

The CAA's all-time top draft pick was David Robinson, out of Navy in '89. The Admiral was the No. 1 pick overall, by San Antonio.

VCU never faced Robinson, but the Rams have played against at least one overall top pick - Virginia's Ralph Sampson in '83, when his was called by Houston.

Also making VCU's all-time opponent team is Blake Griffin, who figures to be the No. 1 selection this year.
