The Jazz are preparing to be without Deron Williams for tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after Williams sat out the team's pregame shootaround Wednesday morning and said his strained back had gotten worse.
The Jazz already have ruled out Ronnie Price with the sprained left big toe he suffered in Monday's victory over New York. Without Williams or Price, the Jazz would be down to just one point guard in rookie Eric Maynor and nine total players.

wow, no williams or price not only would mean a start, but a big bulk of the minutes. tough matchup, but E got this.

Win or lose, it's a first shot at showcasing what he can do at this level. It's not easy going into Boston in your first game, but it's also not easy showing the world what you can do when you get to play 3 minutes against some team either.

I'm so excited about this game...

darn!!! I'm at work till 9pm. Can somebody throw me a bone now and again during the game on RamNation and keep me UTD on the highlights. Thanks.

Is this game even gonna be on tv? ESPN only lists it as on away tv (FOX ROCKY).

BOSTON — Backup point guard Ronnie Price won't play against the Boston Celtics tonight, and the Jazz were braced today for the possibility that starting point Deron Williams will be unable to go as well.

Price is out with a sprained left toe sustained in Monday night's win at New York.

Williams missed practice Tuesday and this morning's shootaround because of a strained back that isn't getting any better.

"It actually feels worse today," he said.

Muscle tightness, Williams added, had spread from his lower back to the mid-back area.

He was so sore he slept on the floor in the room at the Jazz's luxury hotel here, and he planned to visit a chiropractor today.

"Hopefully, that will help," Williams said.

If Williams is unavailable tonight, the Jazz would be down to just nine players — including only three guards, rookie point Eric Maynor, starting shooting guard Ronnie Brewer and undrafted rookie swingman Wesley Matthews.

"That's why I might play," Williams said.

But Williams also suggested he would have to experience improvement in order to dress.

I don't see it listed anywhere on comcast or verizon. Wonder if Home Team will have it on tonight.

F! Mulligans does not have the NBA package. What's choice two?

Posted this earlier on the Maynor thread....

Seems like Eric will get his minutes tonight against Rondo and the Celtics. Comcast Sports Net South will televised the game @ 7:30 (channel 630 / Direct TV)

“It’s a tough situation to be in,” Williams said. “Your first game you’re going to get big minutes in, to be on the road in Boston against the Celtics. But he’s a solid player, so he’ll be all right.”

The Celtics have opened the season 7-1 and might be the NBA’s best defensive team, giving up just 84.4 points a game on 42.1 percent shooting. Maynor said he was focused on playing hard and doing the things coach Jerry Sloan wants to see.

“That’s the nature of this league,” Maynor said. “That happens, and you’ve got to be ready when your number is called. My number was called, so I’m going to be ready.”

Sloan also would have Andrei Kirilenko and Ronnie Brewer handle the ball if necessary. Maynor did average 22 minutes a game in the preseason, along with 8.8 points and 4.1 assists.

“I think it helped a lot,” Maynor said, “and that’s why I think I’m ready. Just being out there and getting a feel for it. I feel like I’ll be ready tonight, I’m going to be ready to go.”

“I kind of was in the same boat as a rookie,” Sloan added, “never got to play and then all of a sudden, a couple guys get hurt, I started the first six or seven games of the season right off the bat. It scared me to death.”

HTG doesn't think they have it either, but are looking into it. Guess it's time to call BW3's or maybe City Dogs (did they get their ABC license?)

bw3s in mechanicsville has the nba package and will be carrying the utah game tonight. Now to convince rick to go out in the rain....
