Maynor to throw out first pitch

I think thats pretty tight that he gets to throw out the first pitch at a AAA baseball game. Seems like SLC is really embracing him so far.

Man that is cool. And seeing that pic of Eric in his Jazz jerz is cool too. Holy Crap!! I am now getting jacked big time for the upcoming NBA Season. I will most definitely be investing in the NBA Season Pass thing on Verizon.

Semi off the subject...and I'm sure i've told this story before, but the summer of Eric's freshman season I ran into Nick George at the gym and talked to him for a minute. He told me that summer that they had this (and I quote) "sick freshman named Eric" who was gonna be really good. I was super excited that summer but didn't really get to see Eric shine until later in that season when he actually got some legit PT. And now I'm reading a story about him throwing out the first pitch after being drafted by the Jazz, breaking VCU's All-Time scoring and assists records....love it.

No grapevine stalking! Eric seems to be rather pleased with the pitch. No word on how he felt about being pulled from the game.

Twitter isn't stalking. The whole POINT of twitter is to make general announcements to the whole world.

Now, adding players as "friends" on facebook when you've never met them, and they feel inclined to "accept" the request because they're trying to be a good face for the university is a different story. (And, yes, our players feel the need to accept all friend requests so they don't come across as mean-spirited.)

They seem about the same to me. A person's twitter updates aren't necessarily meant for the whole world either. Those can be made private the same way facebook accounts can be. You can usually tell by the types of updates people have what type of audience they are speaking to. Who the players choose to add should be up to them, if they are not comfortable adding people that they do not know that should be accepted.

On a semi related note the only twitter I have ever really followed is Coach Smarts. If you haven't checked it out I would suggest doing so. He post a lot of cool stuff, updates from recruiting and workouts, and well as updates about some former players that he has most likely not even met yet. He seems to be really embracing being at VCU so far. Hopefully he will be at VCU for long time.

The point is that there is a different stigma regarding accepting "friend requests" on Facebook and adding "followers" on Twitter. It might be silly, but it's there, and the difference is real.
