Scout.com reported that 4 STAR Travis McKie will transfer home. Has anyone heard this? Could he become a Ram or is Scout.com full of false rumors? Maybe they meant the Spiders, that would be a dagger. This would definitely make up for the Carl Hall loss.
 
If you google "Travis McKie transfer" you see the top of some rivals boards (ugh, who still uses those?!) that have some rumors about him tweeting a desire to transfer home. Unfortunately rivals is a registration-only board so that's as far as a non-member can get.

That also says the last post was on Jan. 13, so I'll take it with a grain of salt. I would think if there was any substance behind this, it would be spreading like wildfire all over the internetz, especially on their (subscription-free) boards, which it isn't.

Hope I'm wrong though. This kid is special and I wish him the best.

Which apparently isn't Wake Forest. . .

I have to admit, our fans teased him down there quite a bit, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him join the incoming class, maybe fill Henry's spot.

He'd have to sit out a year to become eligible which further leads me to believe there is not much fruit behind this. Why would he announce something like this only a few weeks into the second semester? He's a bright young man with many very professional and educated people in his corner. My guess is if he were to decide to transfer, there wouldn't be an announcement made about it until the end of the season. I don't think those that look after his best interests would let him make an announcement like this midseason. I don't mean to burst the bubble, just speculating like everyone else.

I see NBA potential written all over McKie and I am salivating at the thought of him playing on Broad St. in two years, but I just don't see it happening...at least right now. Give it to the end of their season, which will surely end before ours. heck we might get some good/inspiring news from the kid heading into the first round of the NCAAs this March. Until then keep your toes crossed and enjoy this streak we're on.
 
Yeah, not really saying it would happen, but I wouldn't mind it if it did.

Back to getting ready for Towson.

Let's certainly hope if he did transfer home it would be to Broad St. Quite a talent!
 
we do love wake forest transfers! And I could understand why he would want to transfer...I mean have you seen wake forest recently?
 
Didn't he do that before doing the recruiting process just to get a laugh on the local schools?

Would love to see him play on a good black and gold team, Wake Forest is unbelievably bad. That said, I think he's one of the top scoring ACC freshman and putting up better numbers than even Harrison Barnes (granted, he's all Wake has). Either way, I don't see him sitting out a year or half a year to transfer.
 
He would make a great Ram. I recall years ago when I was a student at WVU, they were recruiting an out of state junior college player, but a native of WV. His name was William Bailey. What do you guess the song they were playing at the old field house as they were trying to convince him to come to WVU? One of my favorite singers....from Winchester
 
I just want to throw out that we're running with information that we're not even sure is reliable. I remember that Ed Davis said on April Fool's Day that he was transferring to VCU. These things are thrown around all the time. Even if it's more serious then that, remember Joey Rodriguez had transferred to Rollins? I'll believe it when I see a more reliable source on this one. It's hard to believe that he'd leave Wake Forest. Sure, they are terrible this year but they will only get better. It's only his freshman season. The only way I could see it happening is if a) he's EXTREMELY home sick, or b) he's not making the grades. I believe Joey was extremely home sick in his first year at VCU and he stuck it out and stayed four years. We'll see what happens. Don't get your hopes up just yet!
 
I believe one of our posters is a friend of McKie's family. Maybe they can do some research?
