I'm not saying this is what happened b/c I'm not privy the inside scoop, but it is certainly possible. This kind of stuff happens all the time in recruiting, and depending on how many scholarships Shaka actually has at his disposal (a number that nobody here seems to know), I could easily see him refusing to accept a commitment from another big man until Bradley made up his mind. The kid was obviously our No. 1 big man target.

He seems like a great kid with a bright future in basketball and pharmacy. Glad we can get that kind and caliber of kid considering us in his top 3.
I seriously doubt however we have any of these kids on the "back burner". Are you telling me that if a kid like Lulane wanted to commit by now we would have put that off waiting on Bradley?? These decisions are multifaceted and have a lot more to do with the diverse needs/wants of the candidates than any failure on the part of the coaches, program, or University.
no offense...but longwood is struggling basketball wise...but glad to hear you are cheering for vcu. My best friend just graduated form longwood and you guys just haven't had enough experience at the D1 level.LongwoodRams31 said:By the way, this is a great website, if only there were enough basketball followers of Longwood that there was at least one place to blog on, oh well.
I am sure he realizes this. They do seem to be getting better though. Moving up to D1 is tough these days. It is probably good that he is a VCU fan as well as it could take years for Longwood to really establish themselves in D1. Enjoy the site. You could always start up something on your own for Longwood BBall. You should be able to find a free service that would handle the limited traffic to start with.vcu_dan said:no offense...but longwood is struggling basketball wise...but glad to hear you are cheering for vcu. UConn can have him. I'll take Toby Veal, Juvonte Reddic and Darrell Haley.
Jim Calhoun was asked about the newest Huskies Thursday during a charity event at Bristol Central High. Here's what he had to say about all five guys:
Michael Bradley: He's got 1390 on his boards and he took 16 advanced placement hours at Tennessee-Chattanooga last year, a great shot blocker, has a chance to be a terrific, terrific player for us. He's going to be a little bit raw for us this year. Hopefully some of our older kids -- Alex and Ater and some of those kids -- will carry the burden up front. Michael Bradley is a kid, by the way, great story. He lives in an orphanage. He got away from his mother four years ago, because she had a lot of problems at home. He went to the orphanage. They call it there an orphanage. Up here, I'm sure they wouldn't. Group home, maybe. ... But he lives in an orphanage. He's got a guardian. Two years ago, his mother wanted to get re-involved in his life. He told me this story. He said, 'Mom, I love you to death, but everything in my life is going really terrific. You can visit me any time and when I get to the NBA someday I'll be there.'
