The Mid-Major Top 25 has been updated today and VCU has moved up 2 spots to number 6 on virtue of their win over nationally-ranked #17 Oklahoma. ODU at 4-0 has moved up to #3 ahead of Siena and behind Butler and Gonzaga. George Mason has dropped to 11 from 7 as they dropped 2 close games to top 25 teams. Northeastern slipped a spot to 16 from 15. No other CAA teams garnered votes. Western Michigan picked up a vote after beating us in Kalamazoo last week.

A lot of respect for ODU...they have not played ANYBODY yet...I know they are undefeated, but a lot of that respect is coming from the reputation of the CAA and the fact that they were picked as the pre-season fav.

Well ODU's about to play some pretty good top 50-type programs in the next couple of days, so we'll see if they are for real or not. They've beaten the teams they were supposed to, and convincingly for the most part. We can't say the same thing given our loss to the Broncos. Our saving grace is that we beat a team most did not expect us to win hence the bump. It's good for VCU to have a good ODU team since we play 'em twice a year. Plus, it makes the rivalry game that much better.

ODU is good. I think they are going to be really good- and they should be the pre-season fav to win the CAA. But I agree- this is a little strong for now, considering who they've played. They could very well end up being the best mid-major team in the land. But they should play someone first- before garnering this high of a ranking. JMO

ODU does have some great games this year. Mizzou and G-Town to name a couple. I know we should want them to be good and all, but ef 'em. I don't want them to beat Mizzou or G'Town...in fact I hope they get smoked.

ODU has some very winnable games against top 50 programs these coming days. Mizzou will be tough but lost a lot from their Elite 8 team last year. Should they beat them, they'll likely play a Miss. St. team without John Riek and Renardo Sidney. They have looked very beatable as Rider beat them in their own house. When Sidney and Riek come in, Miss. St. easily becomes a top 25 team. ODU def. wins there if they pull out the victory. Georgetown has looked very beatable early on, esp. the Temple game which went down to the wire. Temple is rebuilding after the loss of Dionte Christmas. Plus, ODU has beaten Georgetown at McDonough before when they were more highly ranked than they are now. If they can win a couple of these signature games, they'll look good for an at-large should they falter in the CAA tournament.

That said, they haven't played anyone yet. We'll see how it goes, but my gut tells me they will likely win at least one of those games.

Interesting tidbit about ODU and ur. They both play in the same tournament this weekend. Should they both win or both lose their first game, they would play in the Sunday game against each other. Next week they play each other. So they could end up playing each other back to back.

ur vs odu...wow

would you rather be hit by a train or a truck... actually if they play backto back I hope they split...then they would at least both be losers
