Opening Day lets get it started. Everyone with Comcast, remember you get a free preview of MLB Extra Innings for the first two weeks I believe.
Verlander vs. Greinke has been awesome so far. VCU got a mention by the announcers with both Sizemore and Inge starting.

Heck yeah thats what im talking about. Braves are Dominating today also. Im hoping they keep this up all year.

i'm not gonna lie banana-man, the KC lineup was one of the single worst opening day lineups i have ever seen. the cleanup man hit .230 with 11 home runs last season. not good.

i do, however, really like billy butler. he should be very solid this year.....other than him, man that group will struggle big time to score runs.

That guy from Atlanta is gonna be a beast. How bad ass was that whole place chanting your name and you send it out of the park on your first AB

Enjoyed watching the much-improved Nats yesterday. :P

...as did I, but for different reasons :D

I'm with Buckwheat too, banana...really difficult lineup to get excited about. Case in point last night. Greinke pitches great...bullpen implodes. Who knows, though...maybe The Jesus and ScottyPods have the wheels to get on the basepaths and wreak havoc ( ;) ) thereby making life a little easier for Butler, Ankiel, and Guillen. Royals have great bookend in the pitching dept. Greinke and Soria...it's just that everyone in between is AAAA type/castoff from elsewhere/injury prone/or Kyle Farnsworth (million dollar arm, ten cent head).

just my 2 cents....I truly respect the fact that you rep the Royals so consistantly.

It is awful, we have no bats to support any of our pitchers and the bullpen is abysmal. I like how the team sets up defensively (tons of speed in the OF with Podsednik, DeJesus, and Ankiel), but you're right we have one or two bats in the line up and these are no Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder, Joe Mauer type hitters. Hopefully we can get AG back healthy in the next 2 weeks.

Speaking of Billy Butler, he went to get a hair cut this morning and asked for a fade, the person hacked his hair up and now he is bald!

He is a stud. Atlanta could be a scary good team if they can stay healthy.
I'm interested to see how long the Nats wait to give Strasburg a shot.

Great summary of the team. The starting pitchers are excellent, I look for Luke Hochevar to improve upon his early success and live up to his 1st round draft status. Zack looked excellent on Monday. If Meche can stay healthy he should be a great fit also in the rotation. I question how Bannister and Davies will come out start the season (Davies hasn't delivered since his arrival from the trade with Atlanta). Should be fun to watch the season pan out.

The bullpen is awful we got one solid relief guy in Juan Cruz. Everyone else is sketch at best. John Parrish trying to come back from a Tommy John surgery 2 years ago, Robinson Tejada who started the 6 run blow up opening day, Roman Colon who has yet to show me anything, and Farnsworth who has got to be one of the most overpaid players on this team. The key will be getting to the point where Joakim can close it out (And we also need him to stay healthy this year, unlike last).
I certainly don't expect this to be a better team than last year, but if the other starters pick up their productivity, they could even surprise me. One could hope.

We avoided the bullpen today! Luke Hochevar pitched a gem tonight throwing 7 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed 5 hits, struck out 2, and walked one. Come on Soria!

Joakim Soria comes in and strikes out 3 batters, then gives up a homer to Cabrera....UGGH. Two gems by our starters blown by the bullpen.

Kyle Farnsworth comes in and gives up a run in the top of the 11th. Alberto Callaspo hits a leadoff screamer HR. Billy Butler infield single. Rick Ankiel Double to center! There we go Royals!

I'll be done by the end of the Free Preview if I'm lucky. But i'll continue to talk America's Game through the summer.
