What does a one year contract usually mean in the NFL?
It has plusses and minuses. As a vested veteran, the contract will guarentee if he is on the opening day roster. That said, he will likely be in a battle to make the team as there is little risk to the team if they cut him…..other than being dummies.
 
For a 9th year TE who doesn't catch a high volume of passes, it's great.

Well, that is just THE thing. He has made himself valuable as a blocker. And when they do throw to him, he makes the most out of it.

At a salary of $2.2MM a year, he is a steal for a team that has a young QB they need to protect. Richardson is as much a weapon as a runner as he is a passer. The perfect place for a stud blocker like Mo.
