RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -Justin Harper scored 14 points and Richmond opened the second half with a 15-2 burst and added another later to beat Old Dominion 67-60 on Wednesday night.

The Spiders (7-1), back home after beating Southeastern Conference tournament champion Mississippi State and Big 12 tournament champion Missouri to win the South Padre Island Invitational, had a 15-4 run later in the second half after the Monarchs got within one.

Old Dominion (4-3), which lost to the same teams Richmond beat in the South Padre Island tournament, pulled to within 42-21 on Keyon Carter's 3-pointer with 11:57 left. But the Monarchs managed only two field goals in the next 7 minutes to trail again, 57-45.

its a feeding frenzy on the zone. wow...just wow....they arent done but the odu faithful aren't showing any love...

Three straight "quality losses" ought to vault the Monarchs right to the top of T-Mac's CAA power poll.

They can't seem to win the big game.

Three straight losses when the going has gotten tough. No win to hang their hat on. Not looking good early on for the preseason top ranked team. They need some wins at Georgetown and Dayton badly.

LOL one guy called their players as dumb as rocks

Before someone creates another thread about Blaine Taylor's offensive style, substitution methods or anything else we need to have a moment where we come together and understand that he is coaching players that are dumber than rocks.
Yes, dumber than rocks!

How many times did our guys get the ball... not look at the defender... and just hoist up some horsepoop shot? Baze, Hassel, Lee... they get the ball and don't even look at the defender or the basket... they just fling the ball up. Many times they could have taken ONE FRIKIN dribble and had a 3 foot shot. Sometimes they were wide open, but only realized that after the ball was clanging off the backboard.
I know that the NBA tried to change the basketball a few years ago. Did the NCAA change the ball this year? Is it 115 degrees?
Explain this basketball technique... You don't get the rebound so while you are standing behind the player you reach around and immediately hack someone's arm. No, not when there is a minute left.. or 30 seconds left, but when their 8 minutes left.
Don't complain about the fouls... we earned them all because our players are dumb.
Seriously a 12 year old who plays jr jr basketball is smarter than these guys.
Fire BT. I'm tired of long useless seasons that end up with nothing. I seriously don't give a darn if we win 22 games.. what is that worth if we suck in March... or play some rinky dink tournament. I was hoping the CIT would be a springboard... nope. And I refuse to give these players and coaches a pass hoping we can win 3 games in March.
Let's face it if we made the NCAA we would put up a weak performance against some 3rd rate school, get beat and talk about how great next year will be.
Count me out!

In my opinion, this is not a well-written critique. If you read the citation, you will find a more reasonable explanation of ODU's problems. When we have lost several important games, I hope we don't rant and rave like this writer.
