My heart is heavy. Time to stop crying. The CAA/NCAA is over for VCU. Do we and the Rams gravel in disappointment, or focus on making an additional statement in the N.I.T.?

I say we learn. The past 12 months have been a huge opportunity for team growth. I'm ready for Rams to show country and CAA not that VCU maybe shoulda/coulda/woulda, but what VCU has now become and what we will be next year!

Keep developing Rams. Next season will soon be here. Next season will be VCU's.

We are capable of doing well in the NIT, but I don't thoink it's a lock that we'll get in. I think that it is very unusual for a team that finishes fifth in the conference regular season to getr in. And not advancing beyond thge semi's in the tournament won't help. I really hope we make it ...

until we get a new coach cancel christmas..............................

I thought about for a few....I'm so happy we made the NIT, gee whiz....I'm so pumped that we are lucky enough to make it. I think i'll donate more next year to make sure we keep up the good work.

Me too. A possible NIT bid. This is GREAT! Heck we were fifth place in the CAA, had a losing record to the best five teams, had a losing record on the road, and got to play on Friday at the CAA tournament. Yipee! We have a great coach, who has a great future, all we have to do is give him a chance to learn his players ability, learn how to coach in the CAA, Coach a team with a double digit lead in the second half, and motivate his players, once that happens we are set.

This year did it for me. Man am I happy and proud. Hey Shaka is sooooooo Smart.

Man some of you people are sad sacks of poop.

I am proud of our guys - - they went all out on the court and came up short. As a 5 seed they took the number 1 seed to the brink - - one break here or there and we are in the finals matched favorably against W&M and Shaka is brilliant.

Now that it's clear we aren't making the NCAAs the guys on the team want the NIT. Root them on wherever we land - - they aren't done playing and we shouldn't be done supporting them.

There have been many good teams that have been in the NIT in recent years, should be a good tournament. I'm not really sold that we'll make it though since I'd imagine Northeastern and William & Mary (if they lose) will also get in as well. I suppose if some of the teams we've beaten like Akron and Rhode Island make their way into it we might get in that way. While it's no NCAA tournament it's a nice backup, especially if we somehow make it to MSG.

In my estimation (and all this is is one guys opinion), being a fan of your team is dealing with constantly changing goals. We've been in a position where we've done well for some time now that I think many of us have forgotten that. Every team's goal, major or midmajor is to go on the greatest run ever, go undefeated and win the national title. Over the course of the year those expectations change. You can either give up and refuse to enjoy your team for what it is or continue to support the gentlemen that have entertained you and given you something to even high expectations in the first place. I'll be excited to cheer on the Rams no matter where they go from here, NIT or whatever.

VCU could make a TON of noise in the NIT. You guys are very dangerous - especially to teams that aren't used to playing you.

I know there's a lot of disappointment on this board, but this is a team returning most of their guys and a 2nd year coach next year. There's nothing to hang your heads about going to OT in the semi's against the #1 seed.

(and sorry I'm going post-crazy, but the POS Zone is down - shocker.)

To play in the NIT would be a honor and if we get in which we should, it will be another opportunity to learn from our mistakes and keep on winning. Although I have a great deal of love and respect for coach Shaka, I question his changes of players when we had a 12 point lead, he inadvertently took our momentum away and he has done this in other games as well. When a player is hot leave him in there this goes for the team on the floor as well. He is a young coach and I believe will be one of our best ever when all is said and done. Congarts to the Monarchs on comming back on us. Coach Blaine is an oustanding coach and ODU a respectable program.

I'm sure we'll get the invite. Let's just hope the guys can get over this loss and not lay an egg like the home NIT game against Davidson.

I think this VCU team, more than any I've ever seen, plays off emotion too much.

With age comes maturity...we'll be more than fine next year... people like to forget how good the ODU team we played actually is, but hey...apparently not everyone grasps the concept of logic and rationale.

the NIT has screwed us before...I wouldn't bank on it...especially if both NE and W&M get in...is ODU even a lock for the NCAA...i know the bubble is weak but who knows...our league doesn't get a whole lot of respect..not like the A10 does..it will be a loooooong week waiting for a possible phone call on sunday night.

I agree with some, NIT is no lock. It'd be nice to have another home game though. We'll see.

I know I'm in the vast minority here, but if we don't get an NIT bid (which I really hope we do, the UAB game was a blast despite the loss a few years ago) I'd take a spot in the CBI or CIT (CBI is better, right?) While I wouldn't go hanging a banner or anything for winning it, it's still more experience and another oportunity to see the Rams play. And what the heck, winning something could be fun anyhow.

Seeing how most folks mock ODU's run in the CIT and the lofty expectations many held for the team this year I'm sure heading to one of those tourneys wouldn't be well received, but I'd be cool with it. Obviously though NIT is the goal at this point.
