The NBA has become a joke with all the ridiculous technicals and flagrant calls over the past few seasons. Normally I don't agree with Jeff Van Gundy, but last night he was absolutely right on everything he said. The Kobe Bryant technical on Ron Artest was an absolute joke, he did nothing, in fact Ron Artest was the one that over reacted after he picked up the foul and Kobe just stood there. Earlier in the series, Ron Artest was called for a flagrant 2 and thrown out of the game for a hard foul. The NBA is becoming a clam league and I'm getting tired of these refs making awful calls. Not to mention being able to take 3 steps instead of 2.

No doubt the quick whistles are a result of some of the brouhahas, including players going into the stands, in recent years. What's the alternative? Some of the extraneous crap threatens the game and fan interest. If asked I would prefer the quick whistles. The NBA needs to keep a grip on its product.

Of course you can't allow players to run off into the stands but, I would think being whistled would flare tempers even more. These sports need to understand that there is a certain level of physicality that goes into it. The NFL is the same way with protecting their quarterbacks. The NBA needs to get back to the good days and stop worrying about these things so much.

Personally I'm glad to see the rules protecting the quarterback. He should be fair gameas long as he has the ball in his hands[/i. You can't tell me that a defensive player doesn't know the difference.

Yes there is physicality in football and basketball, but we've all seen the result of cheap shots, unnecessary physicality, grandstanding and unchecked unsportmanship. It cheapens the sport, threatens the game and diminishes fan support.

Professional football and basketball are not professional hockey.

A fight does not break out every time there is a big hit in football. Hockey is the biggest joke of a sport there is. Football was never like hockey when those hits were allowed when Lawrence Taylor played and others. Basketball doesn't involve big hits like football, it's a joke that these muscular players can't take a hit and whine all the time.

One huge way very easy way to guage how physical the game has become is to look at all the protective padding today's players wear under their uniforms, Especially players for teams such as Villanova UConn and Louisville. It's not uncommon to see a player sit down on the bench while an eyebrow or a cut elbow stops bleeding, heck even KP gets a bloody forehead once in a while, and the CAA is hardly a "rough" league
