The NCAA recommends expanding the men's basketball tournament from 65 to
68 teams

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The NCAA recommends expanding the men's
basketball tournament from 65 to 68 teams.

Here's the latest ---

This is all a part of $10.8 billion agreement the NCAA has with CBS and Turner Broadcasting System. Under the 14-year deal EVERY game will be shown live across four national networks.

The NCAA Board of Directors is expected to approve this on April 29.

A strong OOC scheduled is now more important than ever.....

Our schedule isn't shaping up to be that way. We need a strong run in the NIT

next year's OOC doesnt look nearly as strong as this past one, so it will come down to conference play/tournament.

i don't care about the number of teams but the fact that EVERY game will be shown on either CBS, TBS, TNT or TruTV is f'ing AWESOME!!!!!

no more dealing with stupid regional biases and having coverage jump back and forth!!! as a sports fan this is GREAT!!

Blech, this just gives us 4 play-in games, and really screws the little conference guys even more. The 15 seeds, who often give the 2 seed a run for their money, will be relegated to play-in game status, just to get Virginia Tech in as a 13 seed.

What if bubble teams play the play-in games? Wouldn't that mean more ratings for CBS/Turner in the long run? Four games, four teams playing for 2 12 seeds and 2 13 seeds. How AWESOME would that be? Pretty darn awesome!

Whelliston tweeted the one positive to this is four small conferences will get an extra tournament share, and for many of them for the first time.

I guess the other positive is that some of those solid 15-seed teams will have a better chance at knocking off a #1 in the first round.

The most fair way to do it would be to pit the "last 4 in" vs the "last 4 out," and not give the winner a full share. Then put those 4 teams in the last 4 at-large spots.

Edit: And I note that YouveBeenRammed beat me to the punch :P

The way the world works...Having a VT in the dance brings them more money than having a VCU in the dance

And having Virginia Tech in the P.I.G. gets better ratings than having Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

With our OOC schedule, we will have to win the CAA tournament to get into the dance. Norwood, aren't you listening?

Our OOC isn't finished but I remember hearing that Norwood and Shaka realized how important scheduling was. Im guessing that happened after we agreed to play UNCG and VMI
