NCAA Transfer & NIL Policies

Why would they? College players only have so much eligibility, and then they have to go pro. The truly elite players will still jump to the NBA vs. staying in college.
Once they become employees, how will they be let go once their eligibility expires?

Seriously???? Once their contract is up, they will no longer be employees. Contracts will be for the duration of their eligibility only. Basic Business 101.

But what if they never even WERE freshman!!!

I just think the NBA should be looking out for themselves and stop tryin' to pacify the NCAA for whatever reasons...
It’s a minor league system they don’t have to fund. The NBA would prefer college ball to be in decent shape.

Well sure, that's probably why they agreed to the "age 19" rule in 2006.....but now? college hoops has a raging case of syphilis, crabs, and affluenza...maybe a touch of scurvy as well

I don't think they're trying to pacify the NCAA as much as avoid the cost of a full player development system. So they do what they can to keep the NCAA in business. But if it starts to become a competing business??...

Is there a site where you can purchase Jerseys and the player gets proceeds from sell?

The USFL started out with a bang signing Herschel Walker. But the market couldn't support so many pro football franchises. Monetizing sports to the point where athletes are paid 7 figure and high 6 figure contracts is an extremely difficult needle to thread. It takes limiting teams to large metropolitan areas, enormous media packages, mega size arenas, a ton of support in terms of facilities from the states/ cities these franchises reside in, a 6 month playing schedule, tons of trademark/ merch sales.
There is no mathematical way VCU can make these numbers work to be a top 25 NIL MBB program (or even a top 50) with a 7500 seat arena in the A10 with 18 or so home games. We shouldnt even be aiming or giving the notion we can compete any lip service. Instead we should be leaning hard the other way into trying to support legislation into course correcting what is happening and limiting its own participation in this madness. If we suck for 3 or 4 years while this plays out -so be it. There are far more members of the NCAA that stand to be wiped out by this than the handful that could benefit.

I dk bout the proceeds part... but there is a site to buy college jerseys from

I've bought a couple of jerseys from here..... no customizable ones but they have pretty much all the players from this years teams.

And I think they have both the Black, Yellow & White Jerseys on there for the men. Only Black or Yellow for the womens team I think.

They also have baseball & some others.

Don’t just focus on ticket sales VCU basketball is important for enrollment which is the real money maker for the school

I doubt the win/ loss record on 95%+ of our seasons has any impact with our enrollment.
The Final 4 did. But that was unlikely to happen again for decades and if this new world order takes hold, where we will never be able to keep a Mo, Maynor, Bones, Sanders for more than a year, it may be once a century or greater.
You will also never be able to convince a country that college costs and loan amounts need to escalate so colleges can start paying there athletes 6 and 7 figures.
This is a losing proposition for VCU and 80% of the programs. No need to be like a herd of buffalo stampeding off a cliff bc all the other buffalo are doing the same. If you want to be forward thinking, the 80% of the lower schools should start banning together and come up with their own system that is sustainable and can withstand legal scrutiny. That is the only path forward.

Great Osobor just committed to Washington, following Danny Sprinkle, but this article snippet shows how NIL deals for foreign nationals have been figured out:

People were laughing about $10 million in NIL for one player but look how fast this is escalating. I’m serious about the NBA being in trouble in a few years.

I really wonder how sustainable this will be over the long term for colleges. Seems like guys are being paid on potential, and I don't see that ultimately panning out for the schools for the amounts of $ being thrown around.

The NBA is not trying to keep the NCAA in business. Thea actual schools are due to the enormous revenue stream that has been created by the P5 schools.
