VCU was bypassed for the 32-team NIT yesterday, despite a 22-9 record and an RPI in the mid-60s.

William and Mary (22-10) will play at North Carolina (16-16), which has an RPI of 92. Tribe coach Tony Shaver played for the Tar Heels under Dean Smith from 1972-75.

VCU AD Norwood Teague said earlier this week that if the Rams did not get into the NIT, they would choose between the 16-team College Basketball Invitational and the 16-team CollegeInsider.com tournaments.

I thought you needed a winning record to be considered for a post season tournament? Any 16-16 club shouldn't be considered for any tounament IMO.
