Nitology

How does he figure to put Minnesota in ahead of us? :?

I would not mind getting a 4-seed and being able to play at Alabama a year early. Gives us a chance to appease all those Anthony Grant fanatics.

Playing Alabama would be a big deal for our seniors. I know they were disappointed when they found out the series wouldn't start until after they graduated. Some teams have trouble getting motivated to play in the NIT, but I would think that might just do it.

Nice call.

If they intend to make us a 5 seed, I'd just say, "no thanks."

I disagree, but the whole NIT tourney has been tough for Ram teams in the past to stay focused for. I'm hoping we see some more magic from the Rams in the weeks to come.

Last year we thought we were in the NIT and ended up in the CBI. Too much basketball to play over the next week and we have been let down a couple of times in the past by not being selected to the NIT. If we get the NIT, then its an improvement from last year. Back to back 20+ win seasons with a new coach and improved in post season participation. If we don't get the NIT, then to me it was a disappointing year. Let's just wait and see the fallout next Sunday night.

So your opinion of whether or not our season is determined to be a success lies in the hands of an ouside group of people making an opinionated (money driven) judgement?

Just my personnal opinion. That we as a team by the end of the tournament won more games than last year at this point of the season. We finished or will finish with a much higher RPI than last year. We had another win over a top 25 opponent. I can't confirm but we had a better road record despite the debacle at UAB and USF. We had a better chance of making the big dance this year than last year. We made the preseason NIT games in NYC and beat a good UCLA on National TV, a UCLA team that is probably going to the dance. This team had a tremendous win on national TV over a good Witcha State team on their court following our earlier home losses. With that said, I just personnaly believe that this team deserves a chance at the NIT should the last glimmer of hope die for an at-large next Sunday evening. I have no illusions that we will get an at large bid. I do believe we will get an invite to the NIT. If the NIT committee snubs us, then so be it. If we go to the CBI, I will still be proud of our team and continue to cheer them on. But to achieve what the team achieved this year over last, and we get relegated to the CBI, then I feel its a disappointment from a personnal point of view. Just my opinion.

Fair enough. It's my opinion that we have shown significant improvement from last season to the end of this season, and my opinion is based largely on what we were able to accomplish this weekend, and I'm sure judging success and/or improvement based on a 3-day capsule would be a head scratcher for some. However, I also want to remind you that we lost an NBA talent that should have been a senior on this team. Our biggest areas of weakness this year were rebounding (pretty sure LS1 would have averaged double figures there and improved our overall numbers as a result of his own individual numbers and from guys on other teams having to find him before they themselves were able to attack the ball) and defense, particularly interior defense when guards would penetrate and beat us on the press and meet him on the back end of it, and I don't have to remind you that LS1 was the 2-time CAA Defensive POY and how he could alter games on the defensive end by his mere presence on the floor! To accomplish an improvement in the standings and on tournament weekend in a deeper/tougher league is what I would view as an improvement, opinions of the NIT selection/seeding committee be damned!

Whatever seed we get we will go in fighting since this will be the last games of most of our seniors. I say we get a 3 or 4 at the lowest but who knows. Really would like to get a 2/3 and stay away from the 1 until later on down the road and maybe get a home game.
