I was wondering what you all thought about requiem for a dream not playing this year at the beginning of the game. I personally thought the intro was a lot weaker. It was so cool when the whole stadium would yell. I don't know about you but I really missed that at the game tonight.

Yeah the intro isn't as good... but I figured the band would play it... not so.

new regime wants/needs to put its own stamp on things, and it isn't as if we were all that original in using it ourselves

...besides, you do realize that "Requiem for a Dream" has very negative connotations right? ...as in, the dream has died and this song is in remembrance

all that said, the new one... at least how it showed on the video... does need some work

the light dimmed, i was looking around, and then all of the sudden i noticed the into was over, the music wasnt loud, the video didnt seem to be that good, so i have to say either redo Requiem for this years team, or redo the intro completely cause it was poor, the crowd didnt seem into it and thats probably why i missed it (the alcohol could have played a factor also)

I will be sending the AD an email about the piss poor intro this year

Songs actually called Summer Overture but yes it still reminds me of Jennifer Connoly going Arse to Arse with that chick..

Still think we should have kept the song since the video looks like it was made for the some and has the yell

I thought there was a chance they'd scrap the intro, despite me hoping they wouldn't, but I wasn't a fan of tonight's. I had myself hyped up for what could have been sweet. The song builds. Highlights of Maynor getting drafted. Highlight's of Shaka's press conference. "Wreak havoc..." Music builds as the "new era" is established, crazy basketball highlights as we draw to the climax, Larry screams, conclusion.

I was hoping to hear it from the band as well (although they've been rocking the new material even if I'm not too familiar with all of it) but I guess there really wasn't an appropriate time. They tend to play it after a big play that either gets the crowd jacked or starts a comeback/run. We didn't really have a good spot tonight, at least not one that also came with a timeout.

I gotta say it was a bit anti-climactic.

I know we were all curious to what they would come up with. Personally I'd love for us to get a shot at puttin one together...maybe we can do one for fun (but it sure would be nice if our Mike could get some players in the studio...throw some dramatic lighting on..do some really high quality stuff).

I could tell what they were doing from the lyrics, but mediocre hiphop doesn't quite do it for me.

I wasn't there to witness it in person, but I kinda liked that we went back to rap for the intro. Not as amazing as last year, but I thought the intro video and song selection were good.

Yeah the whole arena was really amped when the lights dimmed but went completely silent during the video and just stared. Last year's intro was awesome and they need to re-evaluate that. It goes a long way towards setting the tone for the game for a crowd.
