Norwood Teague and VCU President Michael Rao agreed in principle to a new multiyear contract on Monday, VCU spokeswoman Pam Lepley said.

Details of the contract weren't released because it hadn't been finalized. Teague, who has been the school's AD since 2006, had a base salary of $189,280 in 2010.

Great news. Norwood has done an outstanding job of growning VCU athletics building on the strong fondation that Dick Sanders started.
 
Written by Eight Legger on their board. He is a bitter, vindictive old man who is so jealous and envious of VCU that we made the Final Four and they were stomped by KU. He despises the publicity that we are getting and at every opportunity unleashes the academic card:

They just made a Final Four ? I doubt they need a million-dollar AD to search long and hard to find a replacement for Smart if he leaves one day. Hiring a basketball coach and milking "alumni" for donations of $10 apiece are the only two things the VCU AD will ever need to do, and both of those are going to happen on their own for the next decade now."
 
I wouldn't have been upset if he left, but I am glad to see VCU be able to keep people around.
 
I heard some talk that Richmond made the sweet sixteen or something? Could someone please confirm this. With all of the VCU Final Four hype I may have missed hearing about how Richmond did in the tournament since nobody is talking about them.

Anyone ever hear the terms of Norwood's contract, specifically what his new salary will be? Not sure how others feel, but I think he's been really good for VCU. He hired Shaka. Even prior to the Final 4 run, donations were up, other sports were on the rise, the expansion for club seating was almost complete, etc.
