we can't expect to be in the big dance or even the little big dance every year just because of who we are.

VCU Finance 2008 said:Well thanks for that. I don't think any one claimed to be impressed though, but it is what it is. In the past 3 years we have been in the CBI, NCAA, and NIT tourneys, ODU in the NCAA, CIT, CBI, and GMU in the CIT, NIT, and NCAA. We are all in the same boat here. Very similar programs in the same conference with similar goals, but right now we are all in the same position and that is that we can't expect to be in the big dance or even the little big dance every year just because of who we are.

As for the "stupid" remark, I can't say... he should probably speak to that since it's more of a subjective opinion ...but I think it's fairly safe to say that upon reading this thread he was not impressed... not impressed at all.
VCU Finance 2008 said:Everyone knew that we were out of the NCAA tourney, and the biggest reason that we did not make the NIT is because we are not in the ACC. No way any one doing a blind resume comparison would have left us out of the NIT, so you can't really blast the team or coach for missing the cut in favor of teams who achieved less but bring more money to the table. Our season is no better or worse today then it was on Sunday morning, we are just playing in a lesser tournament then we deserved to be in.

artRAMinMN, I do not think your law dean would be impressed with your analysis of the reasoning for my post. The purpose of my post was not to evaluate/discuss feelings and opinions of the NIT/CBI. Rather my post was meant to point out that as much as many of you would like to believe 22 wins were not impressive and in the grand scheme of things. Further at least two groups of very knowledgeable basketball minds as much as agreed.
Again as to the stupid, If cannot figure the purpose of a post well that kind of speaks volumes as well again "Res ispa loquitor?

Under achieved? Shaka owes us one.

I think your analysis of the opinions of others is lacking. I think you either intentionally engage in, or unintentionally fall prey to, multiple logical fallacies. I think you are either not grasping, or willfully ignoring, the fact that concepts such as how successful or impressive some thing may be considered is a) somewhat subjective, and b) not a binary either/or proposition, but rather operates across a spectrum.
I do not recall a single Ram fan stating that they were completely satisfied with how the season turned out. I have seen many say that all things considered, and with all of the variables encountered (and given an inability to turn back time I suppose), that we probably have more to be happy about than sad or angry... but saying you're more happy than sad is not the same thing as saying you're not sad at all. Just because some may not be totally unimpressed, it doesn't follow that they are therefore totally impressed.
I respect that you have an opinion, even if I don't agree with it. I do however wonder why you feel the need to express that opinion in a manner that you have to know is likely to be seen as combative, and what you believe this will gain.
