ODU knocks off Georgetown

Good to see ODU getting a signature win. Hopefully their guys can get off suicide watch now.

ODU played with some passion G'town looked very average, but still a good W for ODU
Couple of observations: If Lee passes the ball to a hoya and the hoya scores it is still an assist? Lee had 6 points 5 fouls and had 3 of his shots [at least] swatted into the stands. Dont tell Blame but they are actually better when Lee was on the bench.
G'town didnt look too excited about the game and ODU took it to them early, then almost blew a 17 pt lead.
12" of snow before Christmas in Richmond, UR beats UFla and ODPU beats G'town on the hoysa home floor....strange occurances indeed....lol

They will be right off suicide watch and onto top 25 watch and most certainly come over here and visit that on us. Any one wanna bet that T-Mac's Power Poll makes a comeback tomorrow? Sure it helps the conference, but a few of their guys really make me dread it when they grab a win like this. Wonder if Georgetown will play them again any time soon?

Yeah, G-Town was really sloppy and acted like all they had to do was show up. But the Monarchs deserve credit, they were very scrappy and picked up a lot of loose balls and took advantage of G-Town's sloppy passing.

just how they like it over in norfolk. loose and sloppy.

When their perimeter game is on, they are extremely good. Lee did next to nothing and they beat Georgetown in their house. The key for them is to replicate that performance every game.

They have the #2 scoring defense in the nation for a reason. They are long and athletic and get in the passing lanes. Their matchup zone is really quite formidable. It was the offense that needed to click, and tonight Iliadis and Finney broke out and really shone. Carter also knocked down some big long-range jumpers.

It's good for us that ODU won the game. We want to play good teams with high RPI's so it is worth more and helps us more if we beat them. Same thing with Richmond. Them beating Florida makes them a more high-profile team, which in turn makes our win over them that much better, elevating our status as well.

Really good win by ODU. That said, I have no idea where G'town's high ranking came from. They've played absolutely NO ONE. I watched the game. I didn't think ODU played any better than they have all year against the decent teams on their schedule. They were good on the boards, good D. G'Town just wasn't/isn't that good.

Umm...Georgetown just beat Butler and Washington (both top 25 teams) before this game. :?

I do agree that Georgetown played horribly and turned the ball over unforced a ton. That doesn't take away from the fact that ODU finally got a perimeter game going and led from wire-to-wire.

And Missouri just lost to Oral Roberts. ;)

Finney couldn't miss in the first half and beginning of the second. The others didn't seem much different than normal.

When a ranked team loses to an unranked mid major at home they probably haven't played their best ball of the season, but that is on the ranked team, not the team that beat them. Never any shame in beating the #11 ranked team in the country 8 to 10 games into the season.

I rooted for Georgetown, I say that unashamedly, even though the win helps VCU, I despise their whining coach, their fans, and their players who think they are better than they actully are. Talk to them on facebook, you'll know what I mean

Umm...Washington has beaten Wright State, Belmont, Portland State, San Jose State, Montana and Cal State Northridge and Portland so forget what the stupid polls say before conference play even starts. That makes Washington NO ONE right now. Butler is good, although they are technically a mid-major who is 8-3 with some decent wins...not really top 15 quality. For example the UCLA team they beat is 3-7. The Xavier team they beat is only 6-4. My point is I think this ODU may look look like our OU win after awhile - - especially once Big East play starts. Not sure that the G'Town team that I saw play last night will be near the top of the Big East this year. I hope I am wrong, because when we sweep ODU this year it will help our RPI.
