Official Beat Georgia State Thread

Wish I was. Oh well. Have fun without me.

GO RAMS!
Beat Panthers!!

Georgia State always pulls out one of their best performances of the year against the Rams. We will have to bring our "A" game to win this one.

I'm sorry, but GSU 60 VCU 57, but I will say this...even though I think we'll lose 3 of our next away games, if we do win these games we really could be 15-4 goin to ODU. I just don't see it.

Based on what data? Burgess is shooting 14.5 apg; Skeen 14.6 apg; and Rozzell 13.2 apg. Georgia State has only one person in double figures (Buckner 10.4 apg). Now, if our guys don't show up, you'll may be right. But my money is on the Rams. See you in Atlanta? GO RAMS!

The smart money usually is. Hope everyone who is traveling has a safe trip.

The only thing making my 2 week vacation ending and goin' back to school tolerable is knowing the Rams have 3 games this week :D

Go Rams!!!!

I'm looking forward to a great game tomorrow. VCU owns our matchup but we always play each other tight and I'm hoping for another great contest with a slightly different result. Good luck guys.

Go Georgia State!

I'm not trolling, just excited about the game. Here's our link to our game thread. http://www.panthertalk.com/forums/showt ... an-3rd-7PM

Haven't seen the Panthers play yet this season. What do you think will be the keys to the game for the Panthers? How about strengths and weaknesses so far this season?

Well, like every year, we're young and inexperienced. Coach Barnes brought in a couple new JUCO Transfers.

C Eric Buckner 6'10 210 lbs. He's a very good player. Unfortunately he can't stay out of foul trouble. He was looked at by a number of SEC schools http://rivals.yahoo.com/jucojunction/ba ... ner-103764 . Here's his profile for us - http://www.georgiastatesports.com/ViewA ... EASON=2010. I don't know his whole story but will allow you to read between the lines to figure it out.

PF Brandon McGee 6'7" 220 lbs. Came to us via the Kelvin Sampson Indiana University scandal and current IU Coach Tom Crean dismissed him. He was a 3 star recruit out of Chicago that had offers from DePaul, Iowa and IU. http://rivals.yahoo.com/basketballrecru ... cGee-51767 . It appears that he's coming into his own and has been a solid player all around.

Coach Barnes has finally been able to successfully tap into the Georgia/Atlanta pipeline. It took him a bit and have some really (really) good young freshman on the team.
Our recent starting lineup was:

PG - Devonta White (Freshman) Very fast flashy point guard
SG - James Fields (Junior) Defensive stopper
SF - Dante Curry (Senior) MVP of Dr. Pepper classic. Shot 13/22 from the 3 point line over the last 2 games. He's got the hot hand.
PF - Brandon McGee (Junior)
C - Eric Buckner (Junior)

Javonte Maynor (Freshman) Great 3 point stroke.

That's all I got for now. It'll be a great game. VCU (as usual) has better depth and know how to play complete basketball. I'm hoping for a big game from us (GSU).

Good luck.

Go State!

Good to see GSU fans don't see us as jerks. Then again its not a major rivalry. As far as finding snotty fans all you have to do is look across the city to the University of the West End aka U of R.

Awesome posting Mr. English. Best wishes to you and the Panthers. By the way, I may actually pull for the kid with the name Javonte Maynor.... :)

Maynor is a stud. Straight up. We're in good hands with our 3 freshman.

Maynor has started 5/11 games so far
White has started 4/11 and
Harold Doby has started 4/11.

Harold Doby is the kind of player that gets everyone involved. He's a got a very high bball IQ but is just going through some Freshman maturing right now. He may actually be our strongest player and reminds me of a better rounded Rashard Chase (for those who remember some of our players)

I saw one of your posters say this and feel the same way, "anyone can win on any night in the CAA but doesn't mean anyone can win every night." That's so true and hope our (GSUs) night is tomorrow. It'd be nice to get our first two wins against JMU & VCU. Only the future knows.

Should be fun, even if it's only for 35 minutes (typical time frame that we play for)
