Northwestern wanted to play today but not hard. We beat the dogs and now get that cat off our back too!

For those that actually saw the GSU game: what do we need to focus on to beat them this time around? I couldn't make much out of the crappy GSU feed. I watched them give Mason a fit for 32 minutes, then they gassed out and Mason put them away. I am hoping we can employ the same tactic. Their guy Fields continually took it to the hoop and was finishing strong and making his and 1's. It is still weird that they have a Maynor.

Their bigs, the one new kid that has DB as the President of his Hater's Club in particular, went off. Jamie was ill I think, not that we want to make ODUesque excuses, but I don't think the game will go the same way this time in the paint.....

LOL, I didn't hate on Buckner. I said that Toby was better based on how they matched up in JUCO. Toby held him to 6 points and 4 boards last year. Buckner obviously went off in our game while Toby sat on the bench with an injury (and still is).

The kid had a career game against us. Can't hate on that.

Anybody have an idea how much Toby's injury influenced his play early in the season? Didn't seem to log many minutes nor tear it up as much as we all had expected. Wonder if he began the season with a problem.

I think it particularly affected his foul shooting.

Look for the Rams to be a 10-point betting-line favorite, and win comfortable, before a rousing home crowd (emphasis on rousing home crowd).

I've long contended that, in determing the overall, long-term strength of a program, the single most important number in the box score is revealed on the final line - Attendance.

VCU dominates the CAA for a number of reasons, with attendance being near the tippy-top of the list.

The Rams simply gang up and "out-number" the opposition - which leads to victories and recruits and financial gain and more victories down the line.

Consider this: In CAA action a year ago in home-and-away games ... VCU drew 50,349 at home, while playing in front of 30,233 away. The differential would have been far, far more striking had VCU gone home-and-home with attendance flyweights Towson and Hofstra. More of the same this year: VCU vs. WM in Richmond 6482; at WM 2245.

Which brings us to Wednesday night: Georgia State drew an embarrassing 852 for its home game this season with VCU in Atlanta. The Rams should be supported by at least seven times that at The Stu. It's baffling to think any school can overcome that disadvantage and be competitive for long.

The only schools that can compete with VCU in the CAA attendance race are ODU and GMU; it's no coincidence VCU, GMU and ODU are the long-term dominant forces in the league, and figure to continue to be in the forseeable future.

It's payback time. Defend the home court. Continue the assertive style of play on both offense and defense. Play the bench. Don't look forward to Saturday. Focus on the Panthers and make them pay dearly. Should be a fun, cat stomping time for all of Ram Nation. Crush em, beat em, make them feel cheap. GO RAMS!
