AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Twenty-four years ago, Jack McCloskey furrowed the brow of Pistons owner William Davidson when with the 18th pick in the NBA draft that June – and local hero Sam Vincent of Michigan State still on the board – Trader Jack announced in the Pistons’ war room that the pick was some obscure guard out of a school that had zero name recognition.

History will record that McCloskey did the right thing in passing on Vincent in favor of McNeese State’s Joe Dumars, who went on to a Hall of Fame career and today sits in McCloskey’s old seat.

Now Dumars might be faced with a similar decision on June 25. Armed with the 15th pick in a draft rich in point guards, Dumars might find himself choosing between such big-school stars as Ty Lawson of national champion North Carolina, Jrue Holiday of UCLA, Jonny Flynn of Syracuse … and Eric Maynor of Virginia Commonwealth.

Re: Detroit Pistons/Eric Maynor: Deja Vu

saw that earlier, and already submitted your stats on Maynor vs BCS for his career in rebuttal to his last paragraph.

You are the man. I have also used those stats to rebut an article on Bleacher Report...so apparently those couple of minutes I spent putting those numbers together really weren't wasted minutes of my life. Who know?

NBADraft.net Mock Draft Updated

Currently have Eric going at #10 to the Bucks!

yeah... TEN.

Re: NBADraft.net Mock Draft Updated

For reference, according to the NBA Rookie Salary Scale Eric would make 1.8 million his first year, 1.95 his second year and a third year option of 2.1 million.

Cha-ching.

Re: NBADraft.net Mock Draft Updated

Thanks for the update John. Also, the '10 draft has Larry at the 12th pick going to Charlotte.

Re: NBADraft.net Mock Draft Updated

all the talk has been about flynn going to the bucks so not sure how accurate the nbadraft.net mock of him there is, but they will definitely be looking point in case they cant bring back sessions.

Keep in mind that today was the first day of the NBA Pre-Draft Showcase in Chicago. The predraft showcase is to draft rumors as the NCAA Final Four is to coaching rumors. Lots of people gathering together, talking, interviewing, evaluating.

Re: NBADraft.net Mock Draft Updated

i'm just not buying eric as a top 10 pick, but i certainly hope to be wrong.

13-17 seems a little more realisctic.

Re: NBADraft.net Mock Draft Updated

no way first round....I read all the posts from the basketball savants on that other board and they all agreed he was over-rated. What the heck do NBA scouts know....dont the read the message boards ;)

Do you expect both Philmore and Gumbs to make immediate contributions?

Pat Kennedy: Well I think that both are going to have a chance to have an impact right away. Isaiah might be a little more advanced than Erique right away. But over the years, you become a little cautious [of projecting freshmen to make immediate impacts]. The CAA is full of a lot of good players. A bunch of pro scouts have called me lately about Eric Maynor from VCU, [Larry] Sanders from VCU, Gary Neal when he was with us. There are a lot of high-level guys that [initially] went to the Big East or ACC, like a Braxton Dupree, who’s coming back to playing at this level. But what kind of impact [Isaiah and Erique have] remains to be seen.
