Old quote from Maynor about Rozzell playing PG

I think we all will be amazed if Coach Smart doesn't bring another ball handling PG in. But I do remember at times throughout the season when it seemed like Brandon was the PG on the floor. He and Joey would be the two guards and he would be the one setting up the half court offense(how ever little it might have been). So I would say he played some PG this season even if a couple minutes.

But I will say if Coach doesn't bring in another PG...I wish Ed could dribble and pass. Those skills along with his ability to drive to the basket would make a decent PG if he could finish aswell. But that will more than likely not happen.

I ask how those teams we played in the Bahamas would compare to/fare against upper level high school teams or AAU teams, because it's not as if we've seen Theus, or other recruits, play against DI teams either. Maybe the Bahama teams would look like scrubs against HS or AAU teams too, but I'm not sure.

So I guess the quality of play in the CAA is comparable to the Bahamas off-season JV teams?

I wasn't implying that this 3 day stint in the Bahamas makes Rozzell a legitimate PG; just adding relevant information from a reliable source for discussion. I'm still encouraged by the fact that Eric Maynor said that Rozzell could play the point, even if it was against a middle school girls team.

Grant said it to:
"It was good to see him in that light of decision-maker and running the team," Grant said. "I don't plan on Eric being out very much, so we'll see how that develops."

Rozzell averaged 13.6 points and 4.7 assists. He was one of seven players who averaged eight points or more for the Rams. Forward Larry Sanders averaged 9.3 points and 11 rebounds.

But like you said it was against a JV squad and I know I know....Rozzell dribbles to high and hard and doesn't make good decisions and is almost always out of control. Just curious Rambunctious when you saw Theus play, what PG in the CAA would you compare him to?

I think we all can agree on the hope that Smart brings in another good ball handling point guard.

If anyone has the "team picture" from the beach please post that sucker. That thing is freaking hilarious. I absolutely love KP for rocking the banana hammock with a gangsta lean!!!

I know I said I was out of this thread, but since a question was directed at me... The only starting point guard in the CAA that Theus reminds me of is Cam Long. Tall, lean and athletic.

I should say that I really like Brandon and hope he can play the point as another option. It's just in our best interest to lock up another true PG.
