Going over to do a little scouting at the ur game tonight.

If anyone has a good ticket source that can keep me from feeding the spider, PM me. I need two.

You get two with each package of "depends" that you buy at CVS in the westend.

guess im now scouting this game as well, go VMI

UR wins 103-59. Looks like our game at the Siegel Center is going to be a barn-burner. I don't know if that's because UR is that good, or VMI is that bad. I know VMI had 2 twins who were stars that are now gone. UR also played a close game against Lehigh who was preseason #2 in the Patriot League and won by I think like 6 points. We'll see how it goes. Their backcourt should be strong with Gonzalvez and Anderson and Geriot is a big addition to the frontcourt after sitting out last year. Larry needs to stay on the floor for this one. We can definitely beat UR, especially at our house, but we need to limit our mistakes and really push the tempo.

I have a bad feeling about the UR game - - they are due and we barely beat them last year. Should be a good matchup, but they will tougher than they have been the last 3-4 years.

VMI was that bad, shot <30% as a team, and let UR run right up the middle for the easy layup, talk about lack of defense this is the team you mention

UR did have ~15 TO, so that plays well for us, but they have the standard Princeton offense they have had for years, and zone defense

I agree they really scared us big time last year. That was also a really bad stretch for us right after losing two straight at Rhode Island and East Carolina. We weren't really playing all that well at that point in time. Our sophomores were still trying to find their roles and Eric was really the only guy who knew what he was doing out there. I think it's evident that most of those players from last year have made huge strides and have proven they don't need Maynor to bail them out to be successful. They have looked strong (albeit against weak competition) and have shown they can move the ball and put the ball in the basket. Our defense is head and shoulders above what it was last year...especially since we couldn't press because of the lack of bodies. This pressure that we are seeing under Smart is Grant's 94 feet on steroids. They have 2 very good guards in Gonzalvez and Anderson but the key is getting them tired over time. Another thing is that Larry has progressed a great deal this year and will cause more problems for Richmond than last year since he has more offensive game and his defense is still ridiculous.

Plenty of bulletin board material on the Richmond boards, they fully expect to beat us.

That said, we can't discount the fact that we are playing in OUR house. That's a big lift to our team. Richmond is definitely not a slouch, but we can beat them.

It came down to VMI not shooting well at all... with the way they play, every team will be able to score on them, it's just whether VMI scores too; some nights they fall way off, and that is understandable when your offense is to take it down the court and take the quickest shot possible. it's fun to watch when they are clicking, their press also was a little disappointing, Richmond shredded through it. I believe Richmond is that good, but i also believe VCU is, just a matter of who wants it more when they play. Justin Harper for RIchmond is good pro prospect, 6'10", good shooter, bangs low.

Anybody want to drive to Bill and Harry for the Waste Managment vs U Henrico game on Thursday?

ODU might actually play 2 games against UR this year. For the record, I think they are a very good team and have the potential to win 20+. I don't like them any more than you do, but they definetly will be a tough team to beat this year.

Agreed. Defense is tougher. This defensive stategy is going to be really hard to deal with once we tighten things up. Larry better. Juniors can hold their own and have that will to prove themselves as winners. Burgess confident. Hope Gavin has a few more good shooting nights. I want to see what that kid can do from the perimeter when he starts clicking and really feels that confidence. Larry needs to play smart ball.
If we play tighter and smarter we'll be a very difficult team for anybody, but I think these will be the keys to us picking up these tough OOC wins.

VMI just looked terrible. Mistakes all over the place. Didn't look physical. Most of the poor playing was caused by their own players--not something that U of R did.
