Watch out for CAA

When Virginia Commonwealth, the Colonial's flagship program, lost Eric Maynor, the league figured to take a step back. Look again.

VCU crushed Oklahoma, 82-69. Wonder if OU coach Jeff Capel would like to reconsider the homecoming.

William & Mary and Hofstra both gave Connecticut good games, and W&M beat a very good Richmond team.

And then there is George Mason, which did everything but beat Villanova; GMU then beat Indiana.

By the way, IU finished last in Puerto Rico, which suggests the Tom Crean rebuild is far from finished. In the second round, the Hoosiers lost to Patrick Chambers' Boston University team.

I thought ODU was the CAA's flagship program?

Is this what Yeager was talking about when he said that he wanted to expand the CAA into larger media markets?

NC State pasted the ODU women's team Monday night @ ODU. NC State is not one of the top teams in the ACC this year. I think the rest of the CAA has finally caught ODU in women's basketball.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that ODU has fallen back to the level of the rest of the CAA. . .

I gotta say...I was checkin out the CAA stats today, and ODU is completely dominating this conference in nearly every statistical category. Sure, they haven't played against an Oklahoma, Villanova, or UConn...but they've done exactly what's expected of the top team in the CAA against teams they are supposed to beat. I win @ Missouri would be great for this conference, but potentially bad news for the rest of the CAA.

Really need them to stay undefeated as long as possible, then obviously drop every game they play to us.

Hopefully Mizzou makes them quit and forces blaine to go to a D3 job

They have size and the teams they are playing are not big teams..and don't play a fast style. We are gonna have to hope that our style of play and overall balance (especially when Skeen and Saintil are ready) can offset their size/depth. They are good, but I don't buy that they are THAT good...it's Liberty, Longwood, BCU and Marshall. Their CAA games will be closer.

That's very appropriate because stats are for losers.

2-14.

Sorry, Pav, but in terms of VCU, women's basketball has risen in terms of talent and quality of wins. Come see them play. You might change your thinking!

While it's true VCU has risen, they've risen from being a bad CAA team 8 years ago, to a very good CAA team. ODU has gone from being a very good nationally ranked team, down to just a very good CAA team.

William and Mary beats Wake Forest 78-68
Delaware takes VT into OT but loses 66-74
Mason falls to Tulane 76-71
Northeastern beast Wright state 70-67

A lotta big games for the conference.
