I know this should probably be in the off-topic board, but...

“When Alabama was getting ready to make a change, a good friend of mine, (UA trustee) John McMahon, called me to see about my interest in the job and I said, ‘John I'm not going to move any more in my life,'” said Pitino, in Tuscaloosa to play in the Arc of Tuscaloosa County Charity Golf Tournament Thursday at NorthRiver Yacht Club. “We talked about certain people and I said, ‘You just mentioned someone that I think is one of the premiere young coaches in basketball. He has all the intangible things that will make a great coach some day.”

“I called Anthony and I said look, ‘I know Georgia is after you (but) I think this would be an awesome situation for you. (Football coach Nick Saban) is 100 percent behind it, he wants to see big-time basketball, and I'd think it'd be an outstanding opportunity. I don't want to distract you, just tell me if you have any interest, and they'll talk to you when it (the season) is done,'” Pitino said. “That's exactly what happened. I called John back and said, ‘John, you've got a good man and if you're interested, he's very interested.'”

That makes sense...Grant is part of Pitino's coaching tree with Billy Donovan having trained under Pitino early in his career before he became a head coach.

Grant is a good coach who gave us a first-round draft pick in Larry Sanders, some darn good players in J-Rod, Ed, Brandon, Bradford etc., and a really exciting fast-paced style of play that brought a buzz back to the Siegel Center. I didn't like to see him leave, but I think we've got a great coach in Shaka who still has his best coaching in front of him. It should be an exciting next few seasons!

Pitino just wanted Coach to leave for ala. More like disarm VCU, but we have something for that.

The college basketball off-season would be way more interesting if schools initiated a few causes of action for Tortious Interference with Contract..i
