there are still some good point guards out there...believe it or not...one kid whose name jumps out at me is antonio biglow (some sites have it as bigalow). he is a jet quick 6-0 lefty from sound doctrine school in lagrange, ga. its a prep school. very little info available about the school on the internet. Biglow was on the west coast for high school and was being recruited by USC. he played for the L.A. Dream Team AAU program w/Renardo Sidney who just committed to Missy State. there are a couple of videos of him on the internet. he has great handle and a mean crossover. he can get to the rim also...

the coaches are still looking at tapes of different kids and will take whomever they feel is the best fit, regardless of whether the player is high school, juco or foreign. Shaka will take a juco player if they feel like he can step right in. He is not totally opposed to jucos as some have suggested here. The coaches are putting in crazy hours trying to seal the deal w/a point guard and working on the following year. I have faith that they will land a good point guard.

anyone know what's up w/T.T. Carey ?? I am shocked that he has not committed/signed anywhere - 3rd leading scorer in the history of Virginia basketball.. he had 37 and 16 in the single A final at the siegel center...grades maybe ?

With Joey returning, do we have any scholarships left?

Technically no but why would the coaches be continuing to look for a point guard unless someone else was not returning ? I spoke to mike rhoades last night and they are very much still looking for a point guard for the upcoming season....something doesn't add up ? Did Theus ever sign his scholarship papers ??

Theus signed. The Joey situation literally just happened about an hour ago.

Things are very fluid though, you may see another player leave before the summer's over. Recruiting never ends, can't blame the staff for being prepared for anything that may happen.

Maybe Rhoades couldn't speak on the Joey situation until it was finalized.

I spoke to a coach yesterday as well and we were in fact still persuing Point Guards for this season. This is why I always preface my remarks with respect to recruiting and all things related to it as "fluid." In the world of recruiting things can and do change on a dime!

I have always thought that the best case scenario for VCU would be to have Joey return. We have too much talent in the program right now to chance not having stability at the point position. Let's hope this comes to fruition!

We will have another scholarship open for next year and we are still looking for another PG. Even with Joey back, we only have one true PG. I cannot say much more, but we will have another opening and another PG signed soon.

Another opening as in someone else is leaving? I hope it's not Nixon, we definitely need his energy next season.

In order for another scolly to open up someone else would have to be leaving. In his interview Coach Smart mentioned that we were looking to sign one or possibly 2 recruits before next season. Maybe this is what he was referring to.

As of now we are returning everyone from last year's CAA Championship team with the exception of Eric Maynor. Obviously that is a huge exception and it will take multiple players to fill his many roles on the team, but next year's team should be loaded with talent. We lose one of our greatest players in history yet we are adding 2 transfers that everyone is excited about, 2 recruits that the coaching staff has said great things about, and 1 player returning from injury who has been a defensive star in the past. Considering what we did with 8 and 9 players last season we should definitely have the bench and talent to wreak havoc next year. Who knows how things will play out but I am certainly optimistic. Joey returning has me feeling a lot better about our OOC schedule as I was worried that our inexperience at the point could bite us early on with a tough schedule.

Just trust me when I say that we'll be just fine next year. In fact, I think we'll be the pre-season favorites next year. We will probably lose another player, but we'll fill that spot with a great replacement.

I heard about a week ago that Long Island Univ was making inquiries about him, but as of last week he didn't have the necessary SAT score.

I miss districtballer but sometimes has taken his starting spot-I read that Joey is coming back this am and figure well the roster is finally set and now someone else is leaving and still signing another Point gaurd so the saga continues. I was right once on the Johnson case, huh?

Yes someone else is leaving...not a starter...press release will be issued today. Coach is meeting w/sports info director this am...joey is back and someone else is gone...the revolving door continues !

So how much time does this person get to change his mind and decide to come back? :?
