Recruiting Portal: 2025 VCU Interest

Evans shot horribly at SBU, but shot 66% last year at Bryant. Mitchell shot 58% last year and 50% the year before when he didn't play very much. Not great, but we've had worse and managed to have pretty good success, you know like Luke.
MSS shot 55.1% during his senior year and Justin Tillman shot 65.4% during his. Both of them came close to averaging double-doubles. 66% for Evans and 58% for Mitchell is serviceable enough and there's potential for improvement.

I'm sorry man...I watched alot of Penn State over the last 2 years...I feel like BRozz and Jimmy brought Rockhead's roster construction strategy back to VCU.🫣

Aside from the 5 position, Odom was a master at roster construction.

Luke started with on a team that had 4 players that shot 78%+ on their FTs. Easy to hide one poor FT shooter when everyone else is lights out.

46.8% from the foul line👎
Even worse than Luke. Evans went from something like 35% for the Bonnies, then 66% last year at Bryant. Maybe Martelli or someone on staff knows something about improving foul shooting.
Would you take Keba Keita from BYU (who was a problem for us)? He only shot 41% last year.

As I remember no one really tried Hack a Luke on us. If it was apparent someone was Odom would have subbed in a heart beat. As long as you have others who can shoot foul shots, yeah you can afford a few otherwise valuable players who don't. Just not too many. Then it turns into hack a Ram.

Yeah I tend to agree. If you’re a primary or secondary ball handler and you can’t shoot free throws that’s a deal breaker. However, if you’re a role player who offers other positive contributions and can’t shoot it, it’s a net zero to me. Looks like he was getting 2 foul shots a game. Going 1 of 2 isn’t gonna kill a team.

Also, Tyson looks like a solid role players off the bench. If this is a new contact then it would likely signal Luke is on his way out.

If they bring Nunn, Ace, Watkins Lawal, DeLoach, Zeb, and Kern type players to our roster, I won't have a single complaint. Eh, one complaints....a wide body post guy.

This is for the 3rd big spot.. the one held by kuany kuany(88.2%) and Jack Clarke(79.1%).over the last 2 years.

Throw in fermin with the other bigs..🫣

Every team will play Hack a Shaq on this..might as well play small ball...

There was one game where a technical was assessed(?) and the opposing coach chose Fermin to shoot the free throws and he made both lol.
