South Florida is picked 13th out of 16 in the Big East..ugh !

Winthrop picked 2nd in the Big South and VMI picked 8th out of 10 schools. Winthrop got 5 first place votes and was picked behind coastal carolina.

cornell is picked 3rd out of 8 in the ivy league.

Nothing yet on southern conference - wofford and UNCG

Nothing out yet on conference USA - UAB and Tulane.

Atlantic 10 media day is later this week i believe.

ACC media day is today so we will know where Wake is picked by this afternoon...feel free to add to this when the other league's have their media days !

Good stuff wave. Could you kindly keep it updated as the information becomes available?

Can't imagine Wake picked any higher than last place in the ACC. They lost a ton of talent to graduatation and the draft. Then their remaining most experienced players gets the boot. Also, new coach with a new system. I think they were the lowest ACC team in the 144 teams in 144 days ranking which was before Woods was kicked off the team.

What rankings are you using? The rankings from each league, or random places on the internet?

If Boise State takes years of success before the BCS reluctantly starts to pretend they exist, it would appear to me a very long winning streak this coming year [based on this weak OOC schedule] is going to be a must to get us any love by NCAA power brokers...yet another CAA tournament weekend before we know if we can dance?

I know our administration/staff and everyone involved in VCU bb is trying to improve our scheduling, but try as I might to want to think otherwise...this OOC dog won't hunt. I hope I'm very wrong and many of these OOC teams do great things.

We spent a lot of money to buy post-season games last year, with 5 strong returning players. I guess I simply don't understand what we think we are waiting for when it comes to OOC scheduling? Go on the road...go 2 for 1, go to the moon. Just do it. If we only win half our road games like last year...then we don't belong on the dance floor anyway. If we fail trying I can live with that; watching a weekend tournament and hoping just doesn't cut it. Will no one schedule us at their place??

this is a bit of bad luck/timing, just like last year with OU. We finally get a chance to play Wake and they implode. They may not be as bad as thought but they may be worse. Figures.
Right now, the Wofford game is the best we got so far.
Think about it and how imperfect the scheduling business is

I think this is great luck if we can beat Winthrop and Wake Forest. That's a trip to MSG with the likelihood of playing a great team and playing it on National Television. Heck I'll take it all day. Just Win!

Potential UCLA rematch there.

I think we just need to get through game #1 first. We will have a pretty experienced backcourt but our frontcourt is very inexperienced....basically just one player in Skeen. Lack of player chemistry could truly hurt us. Veal may have experience but I know of few transfers that make a mark the first part of the season they play for a new team. Reddick is a freshman....I know few freshman that make a mark their first season - at least on a consistent basis. Brad may be able to play a forward spot but I don't remember him being an inside banger or player.

That could very well leave us with a majority perimeter game and push us out to the 3 pt line. Live by the three, die by the three. I don't mean to be negative but we will have some problems that we must overcome. The loss of Sanders, Kiril, and TJ is a very big loss of an inside presence both on offense and certainly on defense. If all we can do is hoist it up from outside and then run to the opponents court because we miss and aren't able to get rebounds inside we could be in trouble

We likely will be a very fast team but once in a halfcourt game situation we might not have a lot in the beginning of the season to pull the opponent into the basket so our perimeter guys have a good shot. In other words, the lack of an inside game could hurt us in halfcourt situations - offensively and defensively.

Tech,

Being picked second, means the ACC is expect to have a down year. Also, if VCU is picked third in the CAA means CAA should have an up year.

Now how the national guys see it is entirely up them. All the CAA teams need to do is to perform better OOC. We really haven't done well OOC in a while. We being CAA. If GMU, ODU, VCU, and perhaps Madison perform a bit better against the power conferences we will have an opportunity to get multiple bids.
