Finally made it over with the family for the first of my "Action Pack" season. Our seats were near the PEP band. These guys are great. Nice song selection, animated conduction, great in game commentary. Kids enjoyed watching them. A true 6th man, setting the tone and elevating the crowd. Keep up the awesome work guys and gals. :!:

You are right, they do a great job. It really takes all season to hear everything. They save a lot of stuff and only bring it out a few times a year. So, come back soon.

I am very thankful for the band...but I could do without some of that animated conduction...lol He is keeping his clothes on now so we are in the right direction.

My daughter went to the Maryland game a few weeks back and text me during the VCU game that our Pep Band and Leader were a 1,000 times better than Maryland...we are so fortunate to have a great band that really can play and really cares.

I think our Band leader is awesome - remember the Duke game - VCU vs Duke Pep band - not even close!

I will say...that massive cape he had at the CAA tourney last year, with the black feathers, the gold sequins, and said "TOTAL PACKAGE." That was the most ridiculous but awesome costume addition ever.

Well you guys certainly know how to pull me out of the wood works. I thought doing TV interviews would be enough but I suppose not.

I want everyone to know how thankful I am for their support of me personally and the band as a whole. This year will be the best ever. In my opinion we are light years beyond where we have been ever. There were some slight changes last offseason to help the progress along and that band has taken to this greatly.

The praise we are getting from people left and right has been tremendous! One of the Nevada assistant coaches pulled me to the side last night after the game to talk to me about what an amazing job we did and how we really changed the whole dynamic of the game. I was flattered and humbled.

The new music you have been hearing is very REAL music. Its very hard and IMO very good. Great even. It will take us until about late december early January to be in full stride with all of the new stuff but hopefully most of you can already tell the intensity. As far as Requiem is concerned, I know there was some worry that we wouldn't play it. Obviously I had changed that. There is a lot more about being a pep band than playing songs that people can dance to. Yes we can play "Living on a Prayer" as well, however it doesn't really get me fired up. We try to play certain songs in certain situations to keep the energy going and build fan intensity. Sometimes thats hard to do in Richmond VA. So we hadn't played Requiem the first couple of games because we didn't really "need" to. After hearing the requests on the boards I decided that the band we typically play it right before the second half to get some energy and life in the fans and the team to try and prevent that dreaded after half lull.

George Mason has a very good band. heck I may even hire them to play my wedding if I ever get married. But in the basketball setting they are ehhhhh. I like some of their songs. I like their director ( Very class guy and we have been known to boost each others hype and rivalry). Some may think they are better than us and many do not. My feelings are imitation is the highest form of flattery. And frankly I am flattered.

My clothes have been on SO FAR. Sorry to most of you they will be coming off in the future. I realized that as the band got better and better I did not have to be as energetic. I have become lazy until last night. I feel I have let the atmosphere down in a way over the past year or 2. Last night was a blast for me and cheering and yelling and jumping was exactly what I needed. And yes I am sure there is a time coming when some layers get shed.

I hope everyones holidays were great and I am glad to see so many of you at games. If you ever have a concern, request, praise, or wanna punch me in the face please feel free to shout at me at the game.

I personally don't need or want to see you dance around taking off your clothes, but it is one of those things that is uniquely VCU, and for the good of VCU Basketball I do request that you continue to be energetic and just plain ol crazy.

Dan, that is a robe, not a cape, but you are right it is pretty cool. Ric Flair style. Wooooooooo!

the package is everywhere, i even get the courtesy of a wave while the package makes him early morning run, keep up the great work, and Requiem needs to play every game

Indeed the morning run was needed because I think I am actually going to train for the next marathon I do instead of winging it ;)

Keep bringing it TP. Fans of all ages appreciate what you do. This may be the best pep band in the country and hopefully this year you have your chance to show it on the big stage in March for more than one game.

Anybody remember the jazz band we had for the pep band? Must have been back in the 80's. Great jazz--terrible pep band. Good music, wrong venue! In any case, we have a outstanding band leader, great musicians, and fantastic music. You are the best! :D
