Man- That was a blast from the past! I remember the 84' last second shot by Ro Lamb. Holy crap-m that was just awesome. But here's what i do not understand- and maybe one of you other old-timers can explain:
Nicky Jones is one of my all-time fav RAMS, and i still believe had he not gotten hurt, and had he started his career at VCU, that he would have gone down as one of our all-time greats. I loved his game, and only wish he could have had more time at VCU.
Now, with that said, I would also say that Rolando Lamb WAS one of the best RAMS of all time, and a truly amazing point guard, with a multi-faceted skill set that you don't see very often. The guy was a killer defender, with the quickest hands you'd ever see. He was a pure point guard, and an excellent passer, and he still managed to run the team, despite the fact that was a fantastic jump-shooter. Coach Barnett definitely slowed him down, but he was just a great player all the way around. And he was our starting P/G from the day he walked into the joint. It was Calvin that actually had to wait a year to start, since Monty was still in town, and at the 2. So here's my million $ question- Why was Nicky starting in the Northeastern game? For the life of me, I can't remember now. I didn't remember at all that Ro wasn't the starter. Do any of you remember what the deal was? Obviously, Ro hit the game ender. Why was he not starting?
