Raising Joey to the rafters!

Someone smarter than me (incredibly) explained in private message .... this is a shameful "money grab" by VCU .... Johnny come lately 2011 fans will jump to the occasion with wallets opened .... not so with Ed, What a shame. Rodrigues isn't in top 10 of all-time Rams' guards.
It might help get a few more people through the door for a post Thanksgiving division 2 game but it will not be a financial windfall for the athletic department. Joey deserves it. Nothing shameful about it.

Even then, it's still probably going to be a ghost town for the majority of the students that live in the dorms will have been kicked out for the mandatory fall break as well as locals who are out of town visiting family for Thanksgiving. While the current student body probably doesn't even know who he is, I feel that Athletics should have chosen a game where we can almost guarantee a packed arena for Joey...

Yeah this is a dilemma I'm tryna figure out right now myself.

My family and I are talking bout going over to the eastern shore to visit the rest of our family for Thanksgiving.... and my dad's birthday is Saturday... but I also dont wanna miss Joey's jersey hanging.

So I'm tryna figure out.... do I go over & then drive back to RVA Friday morning for the game.... and then drive back Saturday for the rest of the weekend for my dad's birthday.... or do I get them to hold thanksgiving dinner til Saturday & then just drive over Saturday Morning after the game Friday.

So, we'll see what happens..... but if it was not for this Jersey hanging at that game.... I would 100% be missing this game due to the holiday & my dads birthday.

But this was prob the only time Joey could get back to VCU to do it.

I wish I could see Joey when his hanner bangs! For me, might have to junp over Kendrick and Amazing for my number one fave.

He is coaching now so it was probably more about working with his schedule. I would imagine that FIU is either in the area around that time or has a little break in their schedule.

yup.... FIU has a game on Nov 24th... and then their next game is December 4th.... so based on FIU's schedule, thats a perfect time for Joeys jersey retirement on Nov 29th

Only other time Joey would be close to us would be Feb 22 when they play at Liberty at 2 PM.... but we play Mason at home at 4 pm that day.... so no way he'd get there in time for that.

First and foremost. When is the Jersey retirement happening? Pregame? Halftime? I will be in the house and don't want to miss.

Secondly, Surprised by the epic levels of salt in here. Cash grab? Retirement requirements? *Another jersey to honor the whole team... if we're being honest, Jaime Skeen is the guy who took the team to the next level but Joey Rodriguez embodied the heart and tenacity of VCU ball about as well as anyone I've seen these last 30 years. He earned it and I'm looking forward to celebrating the evening.
